Or he didn't fit the team view (which is Holland situation imo) and the management team is not creative or good enough to get a trade (even a conditional 6th that could be nothing) for him.
Too many working parts for as you say, and I agree with, a bottom line filler for me to say he is no good.
End of the day you could be right but a 30 point guy isn't worthless.

He had the value we just received back in this trade....not much and that was a desperate team.

His 30 points was highly inflated as he played on the PP and got a lot of minutes on a very poor team.

These players are in abundance...hope for his sake that he turns it around with a strong work ethic for the balance of the season ....if not over to Europe for him.

Well Holland was 22. I'm sure they expected more than short term relief. He did give us a few nice seasons, but he wasn't a fit here anymore.

Who cares. One more pick (possibly) and one less player who doesn't fit here anymore. We should keep on going with Michalek, Greening, etc.

In all fairness, at the time, Holland was a young centre with upside potential. He didn't live up to his upside, but that was a much better decision than filling the gap with an aging vet

Rich Panik clone. They are the exact same player although one is a winger. You just roll the dice and hope they come to play on any given night. Panik was a superstar to start the season now he has 12pts in 29 games. Holland would probably have his stretch as well if we gave him the chance.

Yeah he is a hammer drill with no motor. Fantastic housing, gearing and all that though. Could serve a contractor for decade, well, if it had a motor.

He won't be the last guy to get into the NHL, wow people almost out of their seats with a few brilliant shifts and then disappear into a small town insurance job.

Sorry to digress, but, nice turn of phrase, - really!

"disappear into a small town insurance job" - cool!

Point in his first game with the Yotes tonight. Still think he has a chance to make it. Best of luck to him. Wish the conditions were something like if he gets 35 points, leafs got a second (ie. something with a lower probability of happening, but significant reward if it did)

Make that two points.

I mean if he keeps it up, he will re-sign in Arizona and we'll get the pick.

2 points tonight. Keep upping that value, maybe someone will trade a 5th or more for him at the deadline and we get our 6th

Good for Holland. Much better than someone like Ben Smith, that's for sure. Still, far from a big loss. Hope he continues to do well though.

Holland 2pts in his first game and Seth Griffith is playing on the first line in FLA. Meanwhile we have Smith. FLA and ARZ are huge proponents of ADV stats and its paying off atleast in these two players.

These guys are the dime a dozen players 15-25 pt ceiling guys that litter NHL rosters on league minimum (or close to) contracts - stop stressing about it.

Holland a very classy individual and a decent hockey player and people can understand sitting in the press box all the time, is a real problem for a young hockey player, not getting to play and be a part of the team and I hope Corrado will someday be back on the blueline and involve and on the ice to contribute.

There will be many more to follow him over the next few years, as the young players come up and take their places but that's what hockey has become, a young man's game and soon we will have that complete rebuild in place.

That's Holland for you... a guy who has the talent... He's trying to impress his new team... maybe this was a wake up call for him, but most likely, he falls asleep at the wheel again, once he gets comfortable.

Babcock has his own system and you have to fit it in his way and it's hard to see players like Grabner go to a team like the Rangers and excel only because they have a different system that fits the way they play, same with Kessel and it plays to their talents but seeing Holland go, I think he too can excel on another team but Babcock has to fit young players going forward with the Leafs and form a team for the future, there are going to be many more players sent packing that we think can do a good job but won't fit Babcock's criteria.
