Hockey History Books

Has there ever been a book written about or by Johnny Bucyk? I'd love to know his recollections of that period in Boston when the Bruins missed the playoffs for eight straight seasons.

Published in 1972. But as with many autobiographies and biographies of the time, it isn't exactly what I'd consider deep or in-depth. Many of those books were aimed at the pre-teens and teenagers.

I definitely wouldn't be opposed to an updated, more "serious" work on his entire career.

Found this in one of my bookstores today. Still sealed, debating if I want to crack it.

Hockey books are somewhat rare around here, but I've found a couple interesting items. Library sale had a copy of Orr signed by him, and I found a copy of 'And Howe!' signed by both Gordie and Colleen, I believe. I don't really have a goal in mind when curating my hockey collection as of yet, though this is my second WHA item after the WHA history book written by Ed Willes.

It was aimed at school kids, I got a copy while in grade 3 from whatever book club was at our school, around 1973.

I haven’t read any hockey books since I was a kid, but now I’m thinking about getting back into it. My main area of interest is early NHL, so I’m thinking about picking up this book on the Hamilton Tigers. I’m wondering if anyone has read this one and would recommend it, and also if there are some other good books that you could recommend on the early NHL or pre-NHL days.

I've read it a few times. It's short (about 120 pages), but full of details on the team, including their end. A lot of photos as well, and definitely a good book to take a look through.

Hockey historian and author Ty Dilello (group member @nabby12) has been hard at work on a brand new book project, set for publication this fall.."The Sawchuk Diaries: An Oral History of Terry Sawchuk."

A proud Winnipegger, Ty has interviewed countless hockey players over the past decade and during that time has compiled some great stories and memories from players who had played with and against Terry Sawchuk over the years.

It'll be available for purchase on Amazon and of course through Ty directly.

*Please note that this is just a preliminary mockup of the cover and is not final.

Just going off the top of my head maybe "Deceptions and Doublecross: How The NHL Conquered Hockey". I also have and have read "Empire of Ice: The Rise and Fall of the Pacific Coast Hockey Association, 1911-1926 " and "Putting a Roof on Winter" but can't recall how much I liked those.
