They get auctioned after the events and some of the proceeds go the affiliated charities. They are literally taking money out of charities hands by doing this because the ones now don't get worn and lose value, and not every team doesn't them now. So a fan gets a jersey and a charity gets money, win win. The whole thing is stupid.
