Question,

We are over halfway through hockey season and I still can’t find a single Stamkos card in a Preds jersey. Why?!
Did they quit making hockey cards all of a sudden? I figured they would be on this right off the hop….
Anyone able to offer some insight?

No they still make cards, I just think the print run is beforehand, and will have him in a TB jersey.

I remember the old days when they would just color over a player’s old uniform with the worlds shittiest airbrushing

Thankfully OPC never did that with hockey cards. Oh - wait a minute.......

This one is the worst - they don't even hide the fact that Orr is sitting beside Phil Esposito in a Bruins jersey. :shakehead

Some of these look like they were done by a 3rd grade art class:

Not sure if there is a forum for this but it would be a great idea I think.

There’s 6-8 months of lead time to design, print, and pack out new products. Not to mention they have to wait to get and process the game-worn jerseys before they even start the process of designing and manufacturing Nashville jersey cards.

Probably won’t see any Nashville Stamkos until 2025-26 products.

Yeah those are next level.. Reminds me of a book about Soviet photography and censorship in the Stalin era, ‘The Commissar Vanishes.’ As Party officials fell out of favor and were imprisoned or executed, they would be airbrushed out of old photographs with Stalin. On the cover you can see the same pic that had to be edited 3 different times over the years as each member of his entourage ended up falling victim to a different purge.

In the same vein, there is a famous photo of Soviet soldiers raising the red banner over I think the Reichstag building when Berlin fell at the end of WWII. The original had to be retouched because you could see the soldiers were wearing multiple wristwatches — evidence of rampant looting.

After 20 years i fell again into this madness and went to buy one OPC 22 - 23 platinum blaster box, hoping for maybe Slaf or some miracle auto worth house and two cars. I cried when i pulled second Shane Wright (one normal and one yellow neon surge). Cant describe how my heart sprinted when my wife said she found McJesus and second later Auston Matthews...i cried again because none was auto and both are worth fart in the wind (McJesus showmanship and Matthews photo driven basic cards)...i tried to find those cards on ebay if i had by any chance scored some value and it seems that Dustin Wolf rookie sunset paralell is going for $10...and havent found there Joel Farabee red prism at all so i guess i can ask few thousands before they arrive on ebay 😂

10.2 is payday at work so i had reserved another box...well, i should stayed in my weed consuption community, that after-use effect lasted longer 😩

Hey guys going thru a mid life crysis of some sort and decided to buy a few hobby boxes to relive my young days of collecting cards lol i know i'm stupid ...

I know nothing about grading cards and i'm kind of worried about sending cards over by mail to some company i don't know. What's the most trusted site to grade cards and how much it usually cost. I have a Matty Berniers debut ticket access 1 of 1 not sure i want to send that via mail ...

Also how do you guys determine which cards is worth grading? How rare must an alternate be to be worth grading? LIke i have a young gun silver outburst of Mavrick Bourque is it worth grading? I have Jake Sanderson /15 artifacts 2024-25 alternate worth upgrading? I have Caleb Desnoyers team canada gold foil /25 worth grading?

Are non rookie alternates worth grading at all and how rare must they be /10 /15 /25? Are 1 of 1 or /10 /15 rookie alternates worth grading if the player is a 4th line player? Like i have Brandon Duhaime rookie Sign of the Times signed is it worth grading?

Also what kind of out of box damage makes a card not worth grading. If the corners are great but the cut at the top of the card in the middle is not clean is it worth grading? If a silver foil has one foil corner not 100% flat does it makes the card not worth grading?

Sorry for all the stupid n00b questions ;)

To be honest, a 1/1 probably doesn't need to be graded. It's the only one of it's kind.

You can grade any card you want, but usually you want top end rookies, solid numbers like you listed, or rare pulls like signatures/jerseys.

Non-rookies are also worth grading, but same principle as with the rookies, top end players are worth grading more than random plugs

Sadly, even if the damage wasn't your fault, it will be held against the grading, so it's kind of tough luck when that happens. Unless you are a very niche collector of low graded cards, not worth it (yes, those kind of collectors exist)

In any case, check the value of your cards first and see how much they are going for relative to how much it would cost to grade them. Even if you aren't making money on it, it makes the collection look a lot better to have your high end cards graded.

Don't really plan of selling any of them in the upcoming years just wondering which type of cards people usually get graded.

Cards in hockey unfortunately aren't worth much unless it's a star player. A Brady Tkachuk level player or higher. Those kind of key rookie cards, if they are in absolute mint condition, should be worth grading.

edit: I'm talking about worth it from a money perspective. I have lots of cards that I like that I got graded for display (for me, as I like the way they look) and to protect.

What people get graded vs. what people should get graded are two very different things.

Standard rule: if a lot of people want a card but it’s a very easy to find card, they’ll pay a ton for PSA 10. But PSA 9 will be worth a tiny fraction.

Also easiest way to tell what something is worth PSA 10 is to search on eBay Sold listings.

Would buying one of those Beckett hockey cards magazines help?

Anyone else liking the Allure Doubloon cards? Look really nice in hand, feels luxurious, great card stock. Been picking quite a few of the 23-24 ones up, the 22-23 ones they didnt quite get right but the 23-24s are crisp.

You know Sam Reinhart is underrated when you can grab an auto-jersey for him for $10 on COMC (mind you it was in a Sabres uniform but still).
