This isn't an issue as much for hockey except maybe super high end like The Cup but still concerning if you're someone who opens boxes.

I saw that article as well and was wondering what kind of impact it could have on the hobby. Especially with the higher-end products. Really cuts into the spirit of opening packs (though, obviously this has been an issue for decades to some extent with resealing and weighing products). This just seems like the next level.

There's always been ways to search packs. Especially with Upper Deck, who has horrible "hit" placement. Buying loose packs, or even boxes sometimes, has always been a risk endeavour. Even with boxes, people will rip until they get the hits and sell off the excess. Happened to me buying loose Series 1 boxes in 2015/16. Bought a bunch of boxes online from Fans Edge and not a single McDavid. Ended up with half boxes that had the same Young Guns.

Is there a reason why there are so few Ken Dryden cards since he retired?

Not included in any legends set or insert outside of a 2008 Montreal Canadiens centennial set. He's a HOFer. Rogie Vachon who was inducted just recently has triple the amount nof cards.

Maybe he doesn't sign? Guys who sign will have cards made because they can also make rarer cards of that player. Also, each retired player signs a separate deal so if Dryden doesn't bother with those deals, then he will have few cards.

Cup will be interesting as it comes in a metal tin that I believe is attractive to magnets. Personally I don't think they will bother with hockey at all as running a CT scan isn't cheap.

I'm surprised it went that high for a grade of 7.

I'm surprised the guy bother getting it graded since grading 1/1s is irrelevant and yet it still costs money to grade.
