2. Rework D-core via trade and free agency.(I didn’t hate our D-core in the playoffs, but you need to find a way like Vegas / Carolina that has a D-core that’s big with some skill to move the puck better)
3. Trade 1st for a top 6 forward.
4. Trade Lilly for another forward.
5. Go to Marner and see if he’s willing to move and sign an extension with another team.
6. Resign Domi.
7. Let every UFA walk

Sadly, you won’t see a real culture change with the team until next year, unless Marner agrees to a trade.

The last 3 games keefe I thought actually coached well. Montgomery got out coached games 5-7.

Keefe’s comments aren’t wrong. The leafs completely beat themselves this series. Turn overs and 1 for like 20 on the PP. then add on Samsonov was 1-4 in the playoffs.

you can blame an earlier game on Sammy but not tonight's , he gave up 1pt in 60mins which should be more than good enough to win

the last 3 games he coached like the rest of the league that has success in the playoffs , clog the slot/net front which take away clean looks and wait for opportunities on offense without overcomiting to maintain possession and giving up odd man rushes

piss poor special teams are on him and it costs us the series imo

Can’t disagree there. The one thing I would have liked to see was maybe two new units for the PP. with Domi manning one unit.

Tonight I don’t blame the whole loss on Sammy, but I do think the tying goal was one he wanted back. That one completely killed our momentum. The OT goal, that’s on our defense.

Side note , the year cujo played for Detroit their local media ran him out of town while ignoring yzerman, shanny, lidstrom doing sfa. I believe cujo let in 5 goals in 4 games. Or close to that. But they blamed the goalie for what was obviously a scoring issue. 1.39 gaa and .939 save percentage.

Rielly has never been a 1d so not sure why you are surprised? Especially when he has played like a 6d this entire series.

Leafs did great coming back. Honestly, I think that this core has earned one more year to get the job done. Shanny has built a great team, they just got unlucky. I don't see any major changes being made.

It started with Liewike who knew nothing about hockey hiring Shanahan who had no management experience and he and Dubas thought they were smarter than everyone else and could win with a pond hockey team.

I believe that Dubas is not dumb at all. He was smart enough to convince an entire group of old farts that he had talent. Now, that may not make him a genius but it certainly made him rich.

If Marner wants an 8 year contract, the Leafs would have to sign him or trade him somewhere. If Marner goes to UFA, he can only sign for 7 years. In 7 years, he's going to be 34 years - so I'm sure he would prefer 8 years over 7 because the cap hit of this contract will surely be much higher than his next.

If the Leafs don't want him and he wants 8, he would have to be open to a trade.

At best, Marner is a great player whose unique skill set doesn't translate well to postseason hockey.

At worst, he's a flake, a mercenary, and a loser.

I agree, terrible take by Hrudey. I didn’t believe him when he said he hates to blame Samsonov, bc it was such a stretch . By the time he knew which way the puck was bouncing off the end boards he had a split second to react and it would have been super close who got to it first or where the puck would have ended up if he had poked it ….incredibly risky in a Game 7 OT. Hrudey would have been the first to say he should have stayed in his net if he had come out and it back fired.
