Yeah, you had to worry about him out near the blue line. He could beat a goalie from anywhere with it.Joe Sakic has the best wristlet of all time. It was insanely accurate and powerful.

I shouldn't even post this, as it's not the highest velocity, but he still has a wicked wrister.
Hope to see more of these this year.
Whomever has the best stickWho do you think has the fastest wrist shot in the NHL? I've heard people mention guys like Pettersson, Laine and Tarasenko. Bedard's looks lethal. Not talking about accuracy or quickness of release, just who gets the puck moving the fastest.
Edited for a little more clarity.

Caufield has a very quick and accurate wrister but sadly his weight and the length of his stick does not allow him to stick with the big boys.Surprised to see only one mention of Caufield. This little demon can really wire them hard and precisely! Maybe not the best in the league but definitely in that group
Yeah Zadorov is a good one. He gets insane velocity, and it makes sense seeing hes 245+ lbs and has an insanely long stick.Zadarov has a crazy hard wrist/snap shot
Zadorov Goal vs Blues One of Hardest Wrist/Snap Shots I've Ever Seen
So here's the thing. Zadorov had an absolute garbage start to the season but over the last 5 games or so has sort of been turning a corner toward being a decent D. Jury is out on that. So that's the starting point - I'm not making this thread as a fanboy of the player. That said, as per the...forums.hfboards.com
I was coming in to say this.5 years ago, easily Matthews. Don't think it's ever been the same since the wrist surgery. I have a feeling the answer is going to be Bedard very soon.
The league records the speed of every shot taken now. Michael Stone with 89/92 shots taken over 90 mph is pretty crazy.
Well in game situations are different than the hardest shot competition. It's possible Petterson just didn't get the chance to tee off full power on a good one timer that often. Also a lot of guys will take a little off their shot in order to pick their spot. You'll notice Ovechkin isn't on that list either despite having shot over 100 mph in multiple hardest shot competitions.Thanks. I appreciate that.
I do not see though how it's even possible to measure the speed of every shot taken by every player in every game. And for me at least, it defies credulity that the player who was measured as having the hardest shot in the league for the 2022-2023 season, doesn't even make any of the three different lists of players who were measured as having the hardest shot in the league for that same season. I think every NHL fan has seen Pettersson wire a laser beam from the corner circle past a goatlender who didn't even have time to react before the puck was already bouncing back out of the net behind him. I suspect dicknanigans could be afoot (that's a Key & Peele reference)
Interesting sub-topic we're on though. I know I come off as a Pettersson fan, likely because I am,but some things just aren't adding up for me here.
