lmao what an easy tap in but happy for the kid, would be great to have him in LA right now. Would much rather him than Drewiske/Muzzin/Ellerby. I'm sure Lombardi will have a hard time sleeping tonight........

I think for the rest of this season, or at least until Mitchell and/or Greene comes back (or until we trade for a top four defenseman) there will be a lot of debate over whether we should have kept Hickey or Muzzin.

Muzzin brings more of the physical presence that DS wants and is more of the stay at home type that the Kings wanted paired with one of Doughty, Voynov or A-Mart to start the season, but Hickey is much more calm and mistake free. It's not like Hickey is setting the world aflame with the Islanders, but right now, I'd rather have Hickey than Muzzin.

2 ex kings in Visnovsky and Hickey on the ice for that goal... Good for him I always wanted to him to make it on the Kings just like Bernier 2 of my favorites to follow ....

Don't forget Moulson scored 2 earlier in the game. NYI has really feasted on our scraps in the past with great benefit (Jason Blake).

Yeah they've been ripping off the Kings for quite some time, starting with Billy Smith. Wasn't too happy to see Ken Baumgartner traded for Mikko Makela, but hey, at least Makela was later flipped over to Buffalo for Mike Donnelly.

How about when Bettman stepped in and made LA throw in Olli Jokinen with the Palffy deal.

Yeah that stunk. I remember the original trade involved Scott Barney instead of Jokinen. Thankfully the league rejected the Palffy trade to the Rangers, which is what enabled the Kings to swoop in and get the deal done. I'd make that trade again seeing how much of an impact player Palffy was and how Smolinski gave the Kings a decent 2nd line center, who eventually netted Tim Gleason from the Senators, who later got us Jack Johnson, which enabled the Kings to acquire Jeff Carter. It's the trade that keeps on giving.

Very true.

lmao this is amazing

Meh, his stats are near identical to Ellerby's, and he at least has size. Someone had to be waived or traded and Hickey was the odd man out. Wouldn't have mattered if Greene didn't go down. Doubt things would be much different with Hickey out there instead though. We would still need to make a trade.

Agree with the last part. The problem is, Hickey wasn't traded. We got nothing for him.

We couldn't get anything for him, everyone knew we had to waive someone. Also, Hickey didn't possess much value. I doubt people would be much happier if we had given him up for a 5th round pick. Not much of a consolation prize.
