Still some interesting names left on the board too, I’m excited to see how it actually plays out. Being in the top 15 seems like we have an opportunity to get an impact player, but there are definitely some major busts possible in that spot too. No sure things outside of Celebrini IMO but a whole lot of potential available.

If Eiserman was a right-shot, I'd feel 25% better about taking him.
If I saw him put in even a smidge of effort when the puck wasn’t within reach of him, I would also feel better taking him. The amount of guys that turn it around in that aspect though are so rare. It’s hard, if there were ever a team that could insulate him through the 4 other guys on the ice, we are probably a leading candidate. But he is just so antithetical to how our team and even our stars are expected to play. Guerin seems to like big personality guys so it’s possible, but I certainly wouldn’t be thrilled if we took Eiserman, and would be skeptical of anything he does until he is on NHL ice in a playoff kind of situation.

There may be players I haven't listed here that I would rank higher than who is here if I had seen them at all, but I haven't so how would I know?
  • I don't have many, if any, concerns about the top 2.
  • I really dig the players through #13, for one reason or another, but have some minor to medium concerns about parts of their game.
  • I think the players 14-17 have some strong aspects to their games, but I have at least one major concern.
  • I really don't love 18-20 all that much and think they'd be 2nd rounders in some other drafts. If we nabbed any of those guys in the 2nd round this year, I'd be surprised and excited.

This is my board with our present team in mind. I am very unsure about many of the players this year, more than most.

Cele

LIndstrom(probably for the wrong reasons, size and athleticism)
Demidov

Silayev

Levshunov(big RHD with great tools)
Sennecke
Iginla

Yak(big RHD)
Dick(big LHD, great skater... maybe should be higher?)
Buium(like what I've seen, but worry that his game might not transfer to NHL)
Catton(see Buium comment)

Helenius(like him more than most)
Solberg
Parekh(do we really need to replace Faber on the PP, and if not, what good is this guy?)

Greentree
Luchanko
Eiserman
Vanacker
MBN

Parascak

Not rating Connelly because he is a DND because of the off ice actions, and I didn't know how to evaluate Jiricek, as he was out for most of the season due to injury.

I've noticed that while Parekh is as one dimensional as Eiserman, in his own way, he still is pretty highly rated by scouts.

In some ways, i can see his game having a harder time than Eiserman's to translate to the NHL.

My general take is I rely 80% on rankings and 20% my own bias/viewings/feelings so notable names:

Zayne Parekh, Carter Yakemchuk, Cole Eiserman - all 3 are realistic targets for the Wild, all consistently in the top 13, all 3 I just hate their decision making. At least with Parekh, he has the quick bursts to recover his mistakes but I'm not so sure with Yakemchuk and Eiserman. That said, there is just too much talent and at some point in the draft, you simply just have to draft the best tools, not the best junior player and these guys have tons of potential.

Stian Solberg - and in that same vein, love Solberg, think he's a perfect Wild prospect - smart, solid, strong, big, skilled - that said, he does have a limit to his upside and if we stick to the 80/20 approach, I can't put him above Eiserman. But Solberg is right at the top of the next tier

I just can't see another LHD unless he is super talented. I would rather we take a swing on a high ceiling guy in the 1st, then get a Shuravin as a long play in the second, if we are going to LHD.

Still thinking about Parekh. He can develop his D-zone play, right? With a stellar defender like Merrill to mentor him, lol.

I'm not so comfortable with our defensive prospect pool in general, LD or RD. So that is why I'm open to any skill dman prospect.

We got depth with Hunt, Lambos, Peart, ROR, but I've downgraded all of them to probably #5-6 men. We need a top four prospect, several.

If you watch Parekh's shifts, I simply hate his offensive pinches. It's consistently puts him in bad situations, and defensively a liability.

However, I do see that easier to fix if your focus for Parekh is to be a #1PP guy but a #3-#4 even strength guy. Not a guy you play hard match ups as he does have a fairly active stick and does skate quite fast and he does try to recover his mistakes. He's a prospect you slowly marinate. Dumba made stupid mistakes but could survive in the NHL as a #4 guy.

My worry with Eiserman is I don't see that same hunger to recover his mistakes and see less contribution to the game other than shooting the puck. Parekh can shoot, skate, pass, but makes dumb decisions, Eiserman is really just one-speed and I think that's hard to fix.
