Cena/Styles at SummerSlam was incredible.

Edit: Oof, forgot about Owens/Zayn. Welp too late now.

I went for Owens vs Zayn from Battleground. At the time I had it pegged for match of the year and I haven't seen anything since that topped it.

Going by my ratings again, Miz/Ziggler from No Mercy.

Gonna post my top matches of the year sometime this week.

Owens/Zayn by far

We all knew it was going to be a good match
But they still managed to make it even better than a lot of us expected

This is a really strange one for me. Owens vs Zayn is the winner, but only just. Style has been close many times, but has fallen just short every time. Amazing consistency from him. But the next on the list is Miz vs Ziggler of all thing. I don't think anyone could even have thought at the start of the year that a Miz vs Ziggler match would have been getting series consideration for match of the year.

Owens/Zayn it was incredible and that ending with a "i'm sorry I love you vibe" was fantastic. Too bad WWE ruined it by having them both on the same brand and then burying Zayn

I was really close to putting Cena/Styles from Summerslam as my pick, but I went with Miz/Ziggler from No Mercy though because there was so much on the line. That was one of the few times somebody put their career on the line and I wasn't sure if they were coming back. Then when it was over Miz looked like he lost his career by losing the title.

Ugh that match. I went in expecting something great and came out with my mind blown.

They put on a classic and **** all story wise with it. The work rate, the storytelling. It was spot on.

AJ/Cena should be the answer.

They just gave away KO/Zayn way too many times for free for it to have that big impact during their match (which was still fantastic)

I don't care if I'm biased, the atmosphere inside the building for Styles and Cena at SummerSlam was absolutely insane (after it was deflated earlier), and then Styles went over clean as a whistle which was a suprise to many. I'll never forget that.

Little disappointed this isn't closer. I think KO/Sami was incredible, minus the one small botch. But I think AJ/Cena is something I could watch 3-4 times a day and not get bored. That was insanely good. The story they told, too. Incredible.

Only thing I didn't like about it, and it's a big part of it, is that they went into the finisher spam-fest about 10 minutes in. It was still a hot match, of course, but not quite on the Miz/Ziggler and Zayn/Owens level IMO.

Will always be my biggest gripe with Cena matches. Always spam finishers.

Why I actually enjoyed AJ/Dean at Backlash more. Great match with protected finishers.

Would this be Sami messing up his springboard a bit ?
Because I write that completely off with how they seemingly worked it flawlessly into the match with KO targeting the arm/shoulder
To the point where I remember some of us questioning if they worked the botch into the match intentionally

I thought spamming finishers was an instance in where it made sense. Both guys throwing everything they had and not being able to put the other away.

The storytelling of AJ being a step ahead of Cena was incredible. That was brilliant stuff. And Miz/Ziggler should get underrated feud of the year. Man that went from seeming like a waste of time to some really great stuff.
