I can't even fathom the last goal. All three penguins standing there, Jarry wildly out of position. Absurd.

Jarry should be released and the penguins should deal with the dead cap.
if no one else is going to attack the player with the puck, jarry decided to do it himself

At this point, the goaltending feels very much like Fleury in the playoffs post Cup; you are waiting for something bad to happen and when it does, the flood gates open.

Between the coach's TOI distribution, line combos, the team's miserable attempt at defensive play, the team's inability to finish the rare chances they end up with, and the volatility in goal, you're lookin' at a shitpile like the scene from the first Jurassic Park.

Did Petts ever come back? I can't even remember, man. They gotta start working the phones now to see if teams are interested in guys like Petts, Rakell, Bunting, etc. cuz you just know anybody that's any bit tradeable is getting hurt a week before the TDL.

Disclaimer: I'm not defending Jarry

But I've been on teams like this as a goalie. You start thinking YOU have to play defense too, so you start being more aggressive than you typically are and find yourself deeply out of position. You play deep in your net bc you know they aren't gonna take the back door play away.

Jarry was probably at this point last year. Glad Blom isn't around this team or he's gonna develop bad habits too.

In short, Jarry is a goalie who had questionable mental toughness and now he's lost ALL his confidence. Keep him if you want to lose more games. If not, he's gotta go

That's a very nice, well-formed, and well-spoken sentence, Mike. No wonder you're the coach!
Jesse and I will agree here. I have talked in the past that Jarry is in a very bad position when it comes to goalies. If you lose 3-2 but are at 0.940 sv%, no one gives a shit about your sv% and if you win 6-5 at 0.840 sv%, no one gives a shit about your sv%. Right now, he needs to get the win and he's not. Sure, he was decent for most of the game but when it mattered, he failed and we lost. End of story. Another bad game for Jarry ultimately.

There's no more "games to build on". It's either you do or you don't.

I'm not blaming Jarry for that loss. He made timely saves when it counted, it was up to the team to execute.

The OT was odd...
Jarry was playing the shot, and instead it trickled oddly beside the net. Just happens Point got to it first and that was all there was to it.

Yeah...Jarry could have been a bit more nimble, and be able to back in towards his net after the deflection, but then again, we could have gotten to the puck first.

All in all a bunch of shared idiocy to which I can't single out Jarry.

To be fair, we would have chalked that up to bad bounces, if we hadn't lost 10 other times with 2+ goal leads.

My take...
+ young guys
- Sully for not playing them enough

We actually could be pretty good if Sully would just let the kids grow!

Pittsburgh

This was written before last night’s game…I was really hoping to be happy today and wake up to news that Sullivan had been fired…but now I have to be miserable all day….F U FSG! lol…
You all deserve to be miserable after 4 finals and 3 cups. What do you all expect? To keep on winning and the playoffs to keep coming?

This is cultivated on a bad ownership change that has literally no knowledge of the game, hires a loser GM who couldn't even make a younger core work, and the inevitable loss of talent after b2b cups and people are blaming the coach and goalie....

I'm reveling in everyone's misery..... I have no such blaming the past the obvious changes that has this team worse off where I've seen the Bruins extend their days with the same like elder players to their inevitable end.

That’s the whole thing with Jarry. If it was Ned or Blom in the net last night, you’d say “well, they had a good game up until the end, stuff happens.”

With Jarry, his biggest problem is collapsing in the worst moments. So, if he played great for 50 minutes and blew it in the last 13, it completely negates the positives because it’s the same problem he’s had his entire career here and shows that he is still the same broken loser he always has been.

IMO when you see a goalie do something that stupid, it’s usually because they are dumb (they’re goalies it goes without saying) but also that they do not trust their teammates at all. And probably vice versa.

It reminded me so much of early MAF when he felt like he had to win games single handedly (and usually ended up with a similar stupid goal because he was out of position) that I actually laughed out loud when I saw it.

Yeah. It's pretty clear Jarry doesn't trust the team in front of him to help him out defensively, and the team in front of him has zero confidence in their goalie.

It's best for all parties to part ways, but good luck finding anybody to take Jarry.

Or maybe we hire a new coach and everyone mysteriously looks better. I know firing Sullivan is even less likely than moving Jarry.

It's just insane to me that there's still a lot of a Pens media that thinks Sullivan isn't the problem, a main problem, or even one of the problems.

They're dead set on it being Dubas, Karlsson, Jarry, and an old roster.

Lol

Jarry and Blomqvist both faced some of the most shots against in the league. Blomqvist is #1 for saves per 60 and Jarry is 3rd. Ned is still the worst goalie for high danger shots and he faces the 46th most shots against at 27.7.

So somehow they shelter the absolute f*** out or Ned and he still sucks ass and allow a rookie to get absolutely shelled at 37 shots per 60 and Jarry's at 34.5 saves per 60. Doesn't matter who is ass, there's some weird shit going on there. 2 goalies face the most shots against in the league. The other faces some insanely low amounts of shots and still can't hack it. Imagine if Blomqvist only faced 27.7 shots, or Even Jarry while trying to raise his trade value so he can get moved.

How the f*** is it that this team that can't play a defensive system for shit, some how manages to in front of Ned?

Also while Jarry definitely let in 2 bad goals, the D coverage he got on them, I wouldn't trust those dumb f***s coached by that dumb :eek::eek::eek: in front him either. It's odd how Yohe will blame Karlsson and Acciari on one of them but absolutely excuses Grzelcyk and Crosby on the other two.

Look at who allows the most shots in the league and then look at how much Blomqvist and Jarry face. None of that makes any f***ing sense. Then Ned gets top 10 fewest shots against in terms of teams that allow shots per game. He faces as many as the Canucks face as a f***ing team at 27.7 - 9th overall.

I think it's a combination of everything, there's nobody who escapes scathing criticism for the calamitous decline of this club over the years. But I also think it's the most simple and easy solution to replace a coach--which is why it's so puzzling and annoying that that seems to be the one move they outright refuse to make.

Yeah, I dunno. I put no value in what guys like Rossi or Yohe have to say. Just gotta chuckle and shake your head and ignore 'em. They're dummies beholden to the team to keep media access, and operate as such.

Sid's been f***ing godawful defensively for years. It's wild how this narrative still exists that he's one of the best 200ft players in the game.

Sid getting that hype bothered me for a while. He's not even in the same universe as Bergeron defensively yet you'd think he was with how much Pens media gargled his nuts.

Or maybe we hire a new coach and everyone mysteriously looks better. I know firing Sullivan is even less likely than moving Jarry.
I would bet firing Sullivan fixes a lot of these players that were once good for the Pens by just not playing in Sullivan's trash system. It'd probably shock a lot of blokes here who want to blame a bunch of players for being crap, only to see a coach not named Sullivan, actually bring them back to respectability.
