1 (11) D Tom Willander, R, 6'1, 179lb, Rogle SHL
3 (75) D Andrew Gibson, R, 6'3, 198lbs, Sault Ste Marie Greyhounds OHL
3(89) F Ethan Miedema, L, 6'3, 181lbs, Kingston Frontenacs OHL
4 (105) D Daniil Karpovich, L, 6'3, 209lbs, Avto Yakaterinberg KHL
4(107) D Albert Wikman, L, 6'1, 198lbs Farjstads SHL
4(119) F Brandon Svoboda, R, 6'2, 190lbs, Youngstown Phantoms USHL
6 (171) F Ryan Conmy, R, 5'10, 185lbs, Sioux City Musketeers USHL

Willander is a bit of a stretch at 11 but he fits Vancouver's needs about as well as anyone in this draft. Smooth skating, well rounded D are very difficult to acquire in this league. Let alone right handed ones. He'd immediately be their top prospect in a very shallow system.

The rest of their draft doubled down on that lack of positional depth on defense, taking them with three of the next four picks. I feel I got good value on Karpovich and Wikman who could both go in the 3rd round. Andrew Gibson feels like a W where I got him.

Miedema was a bit of a risky pick, but could pay dividends if he figures things out over the next couple seasons. Kingston should be an improving roster next year, so there's a good bet his offense will explode being a big body power-forward in the OHL.

Conmy had good numbers in the USHL and has a knack for putting the puck in the net with his solid shot.

Close enough to the end to potentially tank this pick. This guy is a ghost if not for some tweets from Weekes. Former goalie, plugged in, but to the draft on deep sleepers? Anyways, this guy carried his team to a league title and put up pretty sparkling numbers, and while there are a couple more less obscure players, why the hell not.

The Kraken select goaltender Gleb Artsabanov of HC Sparta Prava U20 (Czech U20)

1 (20th) - Samuel Honzek, LW/C, Vancouver Giants (WHL)
2 (37th) - Oliver Bonk, RD, London Knights (OHL)
2 (57th) - Michael Hrabal, G, Omaha Lancers (USHL)
3 (69th) - Carey Terrance, C, Erie Otters (OHL)
3 (84th) - Zachary Nehring, LW, Shattuck St. Mary’s (USHS-Prep)
4 (116th) - Alex Pharand, C, Sudsbury Wolves (OHL)
5 (148th) - Luke Mittelstadt, LD, University of Minnesota (NCAA)
6 (168th) - Tomas Suchanek, G, Tri-City Americans (WHL)
6 (180th) - Gabriel Szturc, C, Kelowna Rockets (WHL)
7 (212th) - Gleb Artsabanov, G, HC Sparta Praha U20 (Czech U20)

@BarDownBobo and the Wild are getting PMed.

Props and tons of credit to @PKSpecialist. Little under the weather there this past week and haven't been around as much, but we didn't skip a beat. Thanks again for all the work.

This was my guy at 214. Nice pick.

I got Vali who I think is good value at that spot as well despite a slight size disadvantage but I like Gleb better.

2- Adam Fantilli- C
33 - Jayden Perron- W
59- Mathieu Cataford-W
60-Jakub Dvorak-D
65 Jesse Kiiskinen-W
86- Felix Nilsson- C/W
97- Scott Ratzlaff G
129-Dominik Petr-C
161- Michael DeAngelo-W

Quite happy with how this draft went, with the ducks having a extremely strong D core of prospects with Mintyukov, Zellweger, Helleson and LaCombe. I decided to Swing for the fences on some skilled boom or bust wingers to hopefully find a game changer with Perron ,Cataford, Kiiskinen and DeAngelo.

Feel very happy with the value on Kiiskinen, Dvorak and Nilsson.

Kiiskinen looks like he has all the tools to be an offensive dynamo, also being one of the youngest players eligible he has lots of room to grow skillset wise.

Dvorak looks as steady as they come as a big boring physical defenseman. to me looks to be another version of a Brayden McNabb. A good compliment to the crazy good offensive D-men mentioned before.

Nilsson just screams solid 3rd line C to me. Smart smart hockey player, Lacking a bit still defensively but is strong at reading and retrieving loose pucks, just will take some time to be in better positioning to intercept passes and be in shooting lanes.

Overall cant complain with this crop of prospects.

With our final pick, pick 215, the Ottawa Senators are proud to select G Olof Glifford, from HV71 J20 in Sweden's top junior league!

(so off the board I couldn't find an image lol)

Round 4, 108th overall - RW Cam Squires, Cape Breton Eagles (QMJHL)
Round 5, 140th overall - C/RW Tanner Adams, Tri City Storm (USHL)
Round 7, 204th overall - C Tommaso De Luca, Spokane Chiefs (WHL)
Round 7, 207th overall - D Magomed Sharakanov, MHK Dynamo Moskva (MHL)
Round 7, 215th overall - G Olof Glifford, HV71 J20 (J20 Nationell)

Next GM pmed.

Overall I'm quite pleased with my draft for both Columbus and Ottawa. Starting with CBJ, Leo Carlsson is an easy pick at 3 and the sky's the limit for him. Calum Ritchie didn't quite take the step forward most were anticipating but I think he's shown enough flashes to be a quality 1st rounder. Etienne Morin is someone whose tools are in question but to me, that production is hard to ignore and I've liked what I've seen in my (very limited) viewings. I probably took him too early but I didn't want to risk missing out. Coulson Pitre plays a style of game I'm fond of, he's smart and he can skate; couple that with decent size and I can definitely see an NHL role for him down the line. Jacob Fowler caught my eye when he first joined Youngstown and he's been stellar ever since - I'm far from a goalie expert though. Connor Levis just seemed like good value at 98 and I liked what I saw at the Memorial Cup. Emil Jarventie had more d-1 hype before the shine kinda wore off this year but I thought he had a decent u18s and it looks like (stat-wise anyways) he found a bit of rhythm with Koovee in the Finns 2nd league. I felt that the offensive upside is worth the swing at 114. Cole Burbidge and Hannes Hellberg were picks made based on scouting reports, stat-watching and highlights. From what I gathered, Burbidge was one of the few bright spots on a Sea Dogs team that had a rough go at it while Hellberg put together an excellent offensive season with Leksands u20 team.

As for the Sens, I found it interesting that Cam Squires really put together his two-way game while still scoring 30 goals. Tommaso De Luca produced at a solid clip on a rather poor Spokane team and played at a pretty consistent level throughout the season. Olof Glifford is a 6'4" goalie and he was Sweden's 3rd goalie at the U18s, the size and stats intrigue me. Tanner Adams is quite young for this draft but his profile seems interesting and the progression statwise from his d-1 was solid. Magomed Sharakanov seems like a huge wildcard based off what I've read but the profile seems well worth it this late in the draft.

Always a pleasure taking part in this with y'all. Looking forward to draft night to see how I did plus/minus wise!

With the 216th pick the Oilers select 19 year old smooth skating D man from Vasteras IK of the Swedish J20 Nationell....

Rasmus Larsson

rasmus-larsson.webp

:edmonton
2 (56) Carson Rehkopf - CAN - C/LW - Kitchener (OHL)
6 (184) Ty Higgins - CAN - RD - Acadie-Bathurst (QMJHL)
7 (216) Rasmus Larsson - SWE - LD - Vasteras IK (J20 Nationell)

I was at the bottom of the barrel knowledge wise with a decimated list but really liked what I saw on this lid. His skating ability at his size (6'3" 200 lbs.), that he scored so well even at 19 in the Swedish Jr League and his going to the NCAA after next season, where he will be with Green Bay in the USHL, to provide an extended development timeline as an intruiging draft and follow prospect.

Here are some thoughts from Corey Pronman at the Athletic, who has Larsson ranked at 124 on his prospect list:

"Background
Larsson was one of the top scoring defensemen in Sweden's J20 league as a second-year draft eligible after posting zero points the prior season. He was a top-four defenseman for Sweden at the U19 5 nations in February. He is committed to play college hockey at Northern Michigan University.

Analysis
Larsson's natural athleticism is his big selling point. He's a very strong skater for a guy who is 6-foot-3. The way he's able to skate pucks up ice and close on checks with his feet looks like an NHL defenseman. The rest of his game outside of that is up for debate. He scored a lot this year and showed skill/IQ, but whether that's what he projects to be as a pro is questionable. He's also a so-so defender who doesn't compete that hard in his own end. Thus he's rough around the edges, but has the potential to be a good defenseman."

@OiledUp and the Pens are up next! Will pm.

The Colorado Avalanche select 219th overall from the Lethbridge Hurricanes goaltender Harrison Meneghin.

32288085_web1_230406-SUL-HockeyAwards-main_1.jpg

Meneghin, 18, was originally undrafted in the WHL Prospects Draft and signed by the Hurricanes in 2021. The South Surrey, BC, product appeared in 36 games in his rookie season with the ‘Canes posting a 19-12-2-2 record with a 2.83 goals against average and a .908 save percentage with one shutout. Meneghin finished tied for third in victories among Central Division netminders.

The first year goaltender was named the WHL Goaltender of the Month in the month of November when he posted a record 7-0-0-1 record collecting a 1.96 GAA and a .936 SV%. He was also named the Goaltender of the Week in November and named to the Western Hockey League Central Division Second All-Star Team. Meneghin was named the Hurricanes recipient of the Carl Trentini Memorial Award for Rookie of the Year.

The Boston Bruins and @OiledUp are up next.

I'll now be interested to see if @Fixed to Ruin takes the player he nominated. :sarcasm:
Hugo Hell to the Devils. If it doesn't happen here, I hope it happens in real life. :naughty:
