Take the leap and open that brau haus yourself, Mas. I’ll come and run it for you. I’m a booze hound of the highest order, know beer better than English and can mix a mean cocktail.

You guys would be proud of me. As per my new struggles in the career advice thread and the fact that I’m broke, depressed and it’s Friday, I’ve taken to drinking everclear in seltzer with a lemon slice. $15 for a bottle of 195 proof will certainly do the job with minimal calories and minimal financial expenditure. Got about 20 packets of instant noodles at $.30 a pop too. Might have 2-3 tonight. Woohoo. Guess I’m watching Buffalo or NJ tonight.
Wish someone open up a Tuscan style porchetta sandwich place in NY too.

Damn Philly has one,

Sounds good. Bryant Park Christmas market looks good too. Hoping to try the raclette sandwiches and pastel de natas.

I used to work right next to Bryant Park before my summer/fall of tragedy began. I did the raclette sandwich more than once last year. It was over priced and the second and third times weren’t as good as the first because the excitement wore off and there were no expectations but it was absolutely worth getting at least once. Also the Max Brenner hot chocolate is just an absolute staple. It’s what I imagine drinking hot chocolate inside of Willy Wonka’s factory, WITH Willy Wonka, is like.

Gotta come down to the Charlotte area…..Waldhorn Restaurant in Pineville is an excellent German restaurant

I’ve heard. It’s 2.5 hours from me though. Can’t make it for a day trip!

I would love to but a Hofbrauhaus franchise will set me back a cool $10m or so.

Hey if you guys ever want to indulge in an incredible steak with all the fixings or better yet a mutton chop and a little wine to accompany! Head to Keens steakhouse/chophouse. None better. Not far from msg. Great ambiance. Used to be a gentlemens club and the ceiling is lined with clay pipes. Babe Ruth himself would frequent. The babe knew where to get a good steak. A bit pricey with huge portions but they also have a pub with smaller size meals available.

Keen’s is so cool. We did one of our year end “met our goal” lunches there. All the pipes from the famous patrons hanging on the ceiling is amazing. Great recommendation. Also… everclear is truly a tough customer. I can take down the giants when it comes to drinking these days, but this I feel creeping up on me rapidly. Feels like college.

Pfft. It’s all Monopoly money at this point. If you have the credit, take a loan. If my credit wasn’t barely on the mend, I would 100% look into franchising or flipping properties.

Not at $10M though. I’m just joking about that part.

Happy V day to you guys out there. We all gave some, some more than others. I think we get further away, each year, from really understanding what that means. Freedom genuinely isn’t free, veterans have the highest suicide rate in the country, and cursory appreciation vets receive on random days like this isn’t what helps us get through our day to day life.

How is that new Wegman's in MN? Trader Joe's is my go to. Just had the unexpected cheddar cheese spread and lemon curd (not together). Both top notch products

Thanks to you & all the vets for their service & their sacrifice. Those of us who didn't serve need to be more appreciative of this.

Keens is one of the last bastions left of old NYC. Such a great atmosphere & tons of history along with great cuts of meat. Their house specialty is the mutton chop, but I've never been able to man up & take the plunge. I'll stick with the T-bone.

Just got back from Trader Joes. I really like half dozen or so products there. Today I got some sort of frozen apple pastry for the first time. Wasn't the best ever but it was good. Marie Calenders makes an amazing frozen apple pie with brown sugar on top in most supermarkets. Other stuff I like from TJs are,

Thai flavored cashews
Frozen potatoes with peppers and onions
Their everything ciabatta rolls

Trade Joe's is an awful shopping experience. Complete chaos inside & outside the store. The only thing that place has going for it is friendly employees & a good wine selection when you're outside of the Northeast region.

As @Boris Zubov said, TJ’s is a pretty awful place as far as the shopper experience. Especially if you’re not a crunchy, namaste save the whales mofo, but… they have a pretty good alcohol selection and some great products at great prices. Cashiers are real friendly as well. But the parking lot and the store are chaos. Bunch of people who just smoked a pound of “shucks, no, I’m not in a hurry… oh, I’m sorry, was I blocking the entire shelf you needed while I was lost in contemplation about whether to buy this mango chai probiotic tea?”

That all said… many of their chips, dips and snacks are top notch, their alcohol section is quite decent and they have these frozen cheese curds that are actually so damn good that they alone make it worth it to shop there.

You nailed it. That's where they really excel.

Best products imo

Caramel sauce
Lemon curd
Unexpected cheddar cheese dip
garlic dip
fig and olive crips
belgian chocolate

Wow! Impressive. What's accompanying it? & more importantly, what are we drinking with it?

Neither of those things are THAT important compared to the meat. Good brisket is something from the other side. Give me a well executed brisket and some peace and quiet and I don’t need anything - sides or drinks - for a whole afternoon.

Meanwhile, our broke asses have been living off $.30 cent ramen packs so we splurged tonight and I’m introducing the wife to Whataburger. If you are unfamiliar, it’s the only fast food in the world I would ever compliment. It’s phenomenal. It deserves all the praise. It’s godly. I can’t wait.

I've mentioned this before, but I've had plenty of brisket & it's all sucked. Mostly just fatty, bubblegum, & overcooked. I know you said it's tough to find it, so I'm really looking forward to visiting you down there & having that "aaahhhh" life changing moment.

It will only take one trip. I know exactly where to go to change your entire life on this subject.
