Perreault getting slept on

Was up there with Gauthier and Leonard at Boston College last season.

PLus hes a year and a half younger than Gauthier, and 4 months younger than Leonard. Only problem is his size (5'11 165 lbs ) compared to them.

Also had 10P in 7GP at the WJC (T-4th overall)

Is Perrault underrated or are Smith and Leonard just overrated?
they have more goals and are bigger. Thats the difference.

5'11 165 lbs
vs
6'2 189
6'0 192

Perreault should be one of the next ones, though. Wasnt getting many votes.

Smith may have a few Cms on him but he doesn't do anything with it. In fact, he's worse than Perrault at appearing big.

Leonard and gauthier seem like high floor guys to me, should have a relatively smooth transition to the nhl.

Smith is the most talented….

I feel like perreault is seen as the guy with the most boom/bust…. If he had a 6 instead of a 5 on his height he’d prob jump up a bit…. Also draft stock…. Perreault went a lot later than other 3.

That he does not use. That's a DB scout opinion.
what dyou mean by DB? stats watching?

I mean Smith is a top 4 prospect across the board amongst every expert. Hes obviously is doing something right.

And no offense, but for someone to claim others are just "stat watching", and then puts out a widely ridiculed personal Top Prospects list that has Josh Roy 18th, Stankoven 30th and Nikishin 31st

I mean..... do you expect anyone to take your opinions seriously?

The poster has a point as the current poll seems more stats and recency bias driven not an actual scouting analysis and very little context for age.

Sure his list was interesting but given that the current poll list is crowd sourced it's probably going to be more "accurate" but it's still an iffy list.

I watched a lot of BC this season (as many Ducks fans did after they got Gauthier) and Perreault clearly has a lot of natural talent but his game, as of today, is the one of the big 4 prospects BC had this past year that needs the most work to translate over and that makes him the hardest to project. That's before you get into his size. From my observations, he was consistently the most mistake prone of the big four at both ends of the ice by a fairly large margin. To me it's less that his place in the draft order inherently works against him and more that this season showed why Smith and Leonard went so much higher than him. He can still be a stud in the NHL but he's got a longer road to get there imo.

thanks for the insight.... wasnt too aware of his "mistakes". Its always hard to compare players who produced a lot on the same team. Who were playing with the better linemates? their physical game? IQ, defense etc

Who was not on he top line, though? Perreault or Gauthier (2C)?

every year theres a "recent draftee bias" on the list.... Whats odd about this year's is after the top 2 or 3 its quite close as we know. Picks 4-12 couldve gone in many different ways, which makes it difficult to know where to slot them amongst the other prospects.
