I've been on HFBoards since 2005. "Canada - this is out house" is probably the 2nd funniest thread I've ever seen. The greatest, of course, is Olli Jokinen vs Turkey Girl. It's a shame that those pictures were lost.

(A couple of other favourites - there was one thread from 2006, where someone argued that Petr Prucha > Sidney Crosby. And there was another one, probably even older than that, where someone argued that Martin Skoula > Nicklas Lidstrom due to the vague concept known as "puck poise").

There have been a lot of great threads which have been lost over the years to system software upgrades. Thankfully, that wasn't one of them.

If anyone knows the titles of the threads I'm about to describe, let's see if we can maybe find them.

1) There was a GDT on the Wild forum about 10 years ago. It may have been posted by @Minnesota although I don't believe it was. It was a GDT created by a Minnesota moderator, and no one else contributed until dozens of pages into the thread when people started to realize it was this guy describing a game and talking only to himself for hundreds of posts.

2) The other was a thread where I don't recall many of the details. It was about an HF member finding an NHL player stranded in his car in the snow. I can't say more than that, but it was hilarious.

If anyone knows of these threads and where to find them, please let us know.

That thread was one of the first real "oh shit" moments in HF in history that I can recall when that story got picked up by the media.

First, in March 2009, a user named Risiko (no longer on HFBoards) posted this picture in The Lounge. He said it was from a local newspaper (I think the original image was slightly different, but this is as close as I can find):

Then @StrangeVision posted this image of Olli Jokinen squaring off against Ryan Kesler. I'm not sure why he posted it in that thread, but there was no turning back:

A user named portal333 said "Someone needs to photoshop it so Jokinen is in place of the turkey. I would if I had the skeels, but I do not". Fortunately, @Joseppi did, in fact, have the requisite skeels, and we got this monstrosity:

A user named FutureFF posted the following image, saying "i like this more". Another person replied and (understandably) said that "Turkeyhead Jokinen is going to give me nightmares":

From there, people posted a bunch of progressively hilarious and weird images, often combining them with whatever memes were popular (yes, memes existed in 2009).

A few of my favourites (from Thrasher, FatStoner, @MikeyMike01, @LaVal, and habs425 respectively):

Regarding the last image (the Michael Phelps meme), someone said "This is the winner in a thread full of win".

The thread went on for close to 40 pages (and unfortunately a lot of great images were lost). I don't know, maybe you had to be there... but for me, this was the funniest thread I've ever seen, on HFBoards or elsewhere. (One user said "my stomach hurts from laughing, keep it up!!!", and that describes it perfectly for me).

The Mike Silinger one was incredible, by a wide margin the most impressive thread I’ve seen on this third-rate echo chamber

There was also one day where the entire first page was filled with threads about Joe Thornton. My favorite one was “how big would a ton of thorns actually be?”

The second thread was the Kris Letang Christmas story. It's the most outlandish and possibly cursed thread I've ever read on here.
