The insufferable whining about the officiating demands a special flag.

We’ve seen an influx of referee blaming across the board when the referees really haven’t changed. I wonder if the influx of newer hockey fans have a poor interpretation of the rules? Something has changed to swing this narrative. And that includes all the teams in the NHL

To be fair, the officiating against the Oilers is clearly slanted against them. I watch a lot of games and it's crazy what you can do to McDavid on the regular with impunity. No other league makes their best player take this amount of abuse. It's truly terrible

also goes to show you that sometimes being on a great team is not good enough.
Lots of depth players have moved on the flourish, a lot can be said about a coaching staff that lets players play as opposed to just riding a player or two into thee ground.

Podkolzin is also a good example of a player who just needed a little bit more room, he’s been the catalyst for Draisaitl this season

I don’t know.

When we played the Oilers they got their fair share.

I'm 44, been following the league for a long time. Never had officiating been more biased and dirty then these last three years. You can't tell me things haven't changed. Total bollocks

They really haven’t. The game is faster but that’s about all that’s changed.

Players with reputations appear to be held more accountable, that’s also something we haven’t had.

Could not agree more. I as well am not new to hockey. The standard changes year to year and game to game. Getting way worse and unpredictable.

Gary is that you? lol.

Absolutely terrible taken how old are you? Because things are nowhere near unchanged
Old enough to know the bias against reffing isn’t a rationale take. Sure they’ll miss the odd call or let a call go, but it isn’t nearly as bad as people make it out to be

Could be, but I also wonder whether sports betting plays a role in fans being more invested (literally) in the outcome.

Put me on the side that I don’t think ref’ing is any worse (or more random) than it’s been for decades.

I think for McDavid, specifically, it might be a little bit of a Shaq situation. That you can’t call every hook and hold on him, or no one would have a chance, and you’d never have 5v5.
