Complete shocker that sportsnet would see this as fine since it benefits the leafs. A penalty apparently being called but play not being stopped and then calling it after the Sabres score.

I have no horse in this race, I couldn't care less about the Leafs. There was an obvious penalty. You are complaining because ref's obvious mistake worked out in your favor. So how about you stop.

There was a way to fix the ref's incompetence, and they did it.

I mean...they corrected an obvious mistake and it ended up the way it should have been in the first place.

But they don't seem to have the greatest forward depth. Aside from Thompson, who else is on the first line of every other team?

The correct call was made and within the rules. But he didn’t like the way the call affected his team and didn’t know the rule that allowed the call so that means it isn’t fair lol

He clearly meant it went in your favour before the linesman corrected it as he is allowed to do.

Linesmen aren't allowed to blow down play for a penalty. They can tell the refs what they saw after the fact. It is in the rulebook it isn't really an opinion based situation.

A linesmen blew the play down in OT to call a penalty against the Flames against the Red Wings just a couple weeks ago. I think I remember one blowing down the play calling a highstick by Elias Pettersson against the Flames where there was injury too.

So I do think they're allowed to whistle it dead, SN is wrong about that.
