They got rid of their heart and soul players like Sherwood and got soft washed up players like Stamkos. Not sure why they got Stamkos and Marchessault
The injuries Stamkos came back from? Lots of athletes would have taken the paycheck and retired.

This guy...nothing but class his whole career.

Soft? GMAFB.

I think people have reading comprehension problems. I never said anything bad regarding Tampa not signing or keeping those players. I was responding to the poster who said "buyers beware" if Tampa doesnt sign their player or trades them. How is that relevant to Tampa being successful? Tampa can have success while the other team can also get a great player for cheap which proves the buyer beware theory wrong. Preds overpaying Stamkos and Stamkos underperforming doesnt make that theory a rule.
Nobody has any reading comprehension problems, you're trying to compare a banana to a flat screen TV. They didn't dump JT Miller because they thought he was useless or done. It's not comparable to the Stamko's situation at all.

It's a chasm between the Stamkos situation and Miller
They chose cup runs over keeping a developing players. Good franchises do this

They chose not to sign the face of their franchise knowing he was not the same player anymore. They are a smart well run franchise. And if they are moving on from a guy like Stamkos buyer beware...
You can only bring up stamkos. You forgot Tampa was insanely stacked during those cup runs. Most of their players that they did not sign or traded have played significant roles on other teams like Verheage, Miller, Coleman etc. Just because Nashville overpays Stamkos in his twilight years, doesnt make your buyers beware a rule.

I seem to recall a comment about NJ shutting out Vancouver.

Well in his prime he was great but now he is washed up and playing soft. Nothing wrong with that since he is much older now and out of his prime.

Hope Bowman gets more scoring forwards. Ekholm for Sprong...make it happen Alvin

They will never win the PDO Cup playing that way…..
They are a shot volume team. But that can be a negative in some games where the opposing goalie is very good and you need to make plays for a higher scoring chance.

Kings 3-0 win tonight means there are now exactly two teams with a + goal differential in the pacific. VGK +17 and LA +2, also the only two teams with a winning record.
Still lots of games to be played. Canucks have only played 10 games. I think this stat is irrelevant right now due to small sample size. Lets see that stat in January.

Let me rephrase. They were opportunistic with their chances, but didn't really generate and maintain much ozone time. They benefited from bad goaltending.

That being said, I did like how they played in their dzone on this road trip.
Cant expect a team to dominate 82 games in a season. The fact they can win these type of games is a great sign. Elite teams have these type of games where they win even if they generate low number of shots or chances. You cant complain about these games especially since NJ missed playoffs last season. Its all about banking points to make playoffs. Not every game will be a picasso, it is simply impossible through the whole season.
