Understandable the EC is taking time to work out. It’s all tiebreakers. The Devils clinch (both playoffs, and no worse seed than Metro3) if the Rangers lose in any way, or if the Rangers win in a shootout. The Islanders and Blue Jackets already can’t catch the Devils (they can both tie in points but can’t even get the first tiebreaker of RW)

If the Rangers win in a shootout, the best they could do is tie the Devils on the first three tiebreakers (RW, ROW, W) and then the Devils win out on the fourth tiebreaker, head to head.

For the Rangers to catch the Devils, they need NJ to not only go pointless the rest of the way, and for the Rangers to win every game … they can only afford at most one of those wins to be in overtime, and can’t afford any at all to be in a shootout.

The only other East clinch scenario tonight is Washington clinching the 1 seed if Toronto loses in regulation.

No elimination scenarios. The only East scenario not mentioned in OP (and I don’t know if this thread is meant to track clinches other than “make playoffs” or “eliminated”) is the Capitals clinch the eastern conference #1-seed if the Leafs lose (to Tampa) in regulation.
