...burning that year of ELC for no other reason than Gauthier wanting to get paid earlier wouldn't have been a smart move for Philly (cuz they knew they were going nowhere), so they didn't do it; no one thought Gauthier would blow a gasket and refuse to sign...it was a spoiled pr*ck move, imo...
It doesn't matter that the Flyers were going nowhere. Bottom 5 teams usually are crap. If it is normal to offer to let a top pick burn a year of ELC then they should have done it. But I thought the agent was negotiating a deal when Gauthier didn't like something the Flyers did and changed his mind.

Oilers still haven't clinched the playoffs.....They might have to bring the cavalry back before the playoffs start just to get in......(especially if Calgary wins tonight)

...it isn't "normal"; most teams actually don't want to do it unless absolutely necessary or they feel the player has shown that he is ready...the Flyers felt that he wasn't ready for The Show and it could hurt his development if he was brought up too soon, not to mention they wanted to keep that extra year of control, both sound reasons not to do it...Gauthier (and his Dad) threw a fit and refused to sign...it was a spoiled brat move, nothing more...

Might be the difference between watching a playoff team and watching one who’s season was determined months ago, but the atmosphere in Los Angeles is electric, while it sounds like a morgue in San Jose.

That smol ginger is the only reason they are even sniffing the playoffs. That being said that painful rebuild already has a lot of nice prospects on the blueline and the wing. Need to pick only centers in the draft this year.

I know Wolf is elite and will likely be in the top-5 goalie discussion on a year-to-year basis going forward in his career, but goalies tend to be finicky.

Parekh looks like a stud, but aside from that I just see prospects that everyone has (tbf I'm not the most informed on Calgary's prospect pool so I could be underrating a piece or 2 but I don't see it)
