Not sure they really are a better team with McDavid out
I've noticed that the Oilers play better as a team without McDrai, although of course they seriously lack talent.

My theory is that the Oilers are constructed so that everybody that is not McDrai have only two duties: (1) feeding McDrai and (2) merely surviving when McDrai are on the bench. This is why so many supporting players seem to disappear in Edmonton but then thrive when they go somewhere else.

Between Conner and Leon, while Conner has all the "ooh and aah" amazing moves, it is really Leon who is the better of the two and the heart of the team.

My personal take anyway. Feel free to diagree.

Agree to a point, they play different with and without him. They play a better all around game without him.

Curious if that's due to coaching or him.

Yes, it’s obvious to suggest that Edmonton would’ve won the cup last year without McDavid rather than just going to game 7 of the Stanley Cup final.
