When Barrie is a better option it shows how bad Klingberg is. Not too long (imo) before the Oilers waive Klingberg.

Still a terrible idea, but it wouldn't cost the team $1.75 million for 30 games...if Klingberg even makes it to 30 games. Stecher is still better.
Yup, as we've seen with Jeff Skinner excelling on the second line and then getting punted to the fourth line again.

I really am not anti Klingberg.. but he's not a Top 4 solution for us. If we didn't have a Bouch then fine, he'd be a top 4 addition gamble at best. But they've got him in Top 4 again and he's not on PP1. He's not solid defensively and we need another guy with more 2 way game in that Top 4. Kulak ain't it either, nor is Embersson. Kulak is the best of the 3 but that doesn't make him a Top 4 D because he's our 4th best D. Mix and match anyway you want.. there is a gap between our top 3 and next 3. A big one. And out Top 3 (whom I all really like) isn't that all world that they can carry a 4th guy.

I'm high on him to be honest but the size isn't good and the fact the Sabres moved on pretty quick is a flag.
I do think a guy like him will only be successful if he's in a top 6 role with a big time C. So if he can stick in top 6 with Drai or McD than we are in heaven. Eg. I'm fine if he is a passenger and being carried. But if he sinks to bottom 6. No interest in him.. don't see him being meaninful on a PK and he's not someone I want out in final minute of a game. He's a boom or bust type to me.

Savoi is decent with the puck but the other 95% of his time on ice is definitely a struggle at this level. He’s going to need to learn to play smart without the puck or he will be one of those good AHL players who never quite make it in the NHL.

This is a NHL thing.. as a guy who follows the Czech prospects pretty closely.. they all get called up, I get excited, then they get 8 minutes, don't score and get sent back down.lol
No one can succeed offensively in limited ice time.
Imagine if the team signed Matt Roy for only slightly more than the combined salaries of Arvidsson and Josh Brown.

Makes even less sense then why they chose to tie up their first this year. Any 2RD worth acquiring is going to cost big. If they do get a goalie Skinner's game probably completely implodes so it had better be one they think can carry the starter's load.
I dunno about the fwds either, they are small, soft, and slow compared to Holloway and Foegele. Can see they struggle to keep the cycle going against big teams. The Nuge looks completely cooked. Maybe Kane comes off the LTIR and is top 6 quality but that's a lot to ask for a guy his age coming off that injury.
Really just looks to me like they're going to need #97 and #29 to put up historical numbers again to be a contender.

Lavoie, Perlini, Rattie... all similar type guys that need top 6 minutes to be good. If not, they aren't useful enough elsewhere. I know I've shit on him a bit but I am actually high on Savoie.lol I do think he can eke out a role in our particular top 6. I also thought that would be Dylan Holloway in that spot today.lol
