Mesar might come from a "privileged" background. Happens with a lot of Canadian boys too.. problem with these types is they have never (and will never) truly understand the work ethic required to become a pro hockey player, let alone an NHLer..It's still crazy to see that a first-round pick doesn't crack the top 10 prospects after 2 years. I understand that Mesar's development hasn't been perfect, but it shows the quantity and quality of our prospects. There probably aren't many clubs in a situation like this.
There is only one metric that can catch the loss in variables: IQ.
Same with any sport really, very seldomly the "rich" kids ever make it, bc they have everything, their lives are way too easy... they'll glide along on talent alone until it catches up with them. Typically these are the 1st round busts.
If Mesar isn't a silver spoon kid, then the default is low IQ..
Big oversite by Hugo, but I suspect that selection was more about Slaf than Mesar himself.. which I can overlook, since oretty much every other 1-2-3 round prospect has been a hit (this far).
