Does anyone have a plausible explanation why they are relatively successful with the Bills. Is it such a different business or did they just luck into Josh Allen and Beane.
Yes.
Pegula runs a flat management structure in both orgs. Nonody important rolls up to anybody except Pegula. Roles are muddled and anybody can bring him anything and Terry become the arbiter.
It results in Terry always picking sides and making decisions outside of his expertise which would overrule the persons job it is to make that decision.
My theory is that the only reason it works in Oraxhard Park is because:
1. McBeane were brought in at similar times, from the same org, with a working relationship so Terry can’t split the deck.
2. Partially an add on to one, both McBeane see the writing on the wall and they put on a masterclass in office politics and manipulating their boss.
If Terry splits McBeane before one has contractual autonomy from ownership/Terry changes his stripes (lol) I think the Bills are toast just like the Sabres. A few weeks ago he just called himself “a football guy”. Take a look at a team like the Ravens. Bisciotti. He openly runs the entire org with the idea that he’s 100% not a football guy. And they’re one of the most successful and stable orgs in the league.
I think the Bills success has actually emboldened Pegula which is why Kevyn has stick around so long. He views the Sabres like the Bills but they need more time. He understands that in OP McBeane are in lockstep so he’s assembled a team that are also in lockstep. Unfortunately it’s Adams and Forton. Not literally anybody else.
