Saying Pegula got " lucky" with the Bills, you're letting him off the hook with the Sabres. No multi billionaire is "lucky".
The Sabres suck because he bought them solely to get the inside track to buy the Bills, who are an elite sports franchise now.
Adams is his hatchet man, and is doing a great job in Pegula's eyes.
Plenty of billionaires are lucky. And plenty of pro sports owners get lucky with hiring the right coach and/or GM.

There is plenty of evidence that Pegula got lucky with the McD hire and was smart to give McD the GM he wanted.

It’s too bad that say the Ralph hire wasn’t a lucky one for Pegula.

His first idea for the Bills was hiring Rex Ryan.

Yeah...

Nothing is going to come of this.

How long until they are in Houston or Atlanta?
Southern strategy, eh?

Success - especially in a small market - vitally depends on quality and aptitude of ownership. Phoenix is a perfect example of failure. Ownership was a joke. Plus the Coyotes needed a new building. Couldn't get one. They move to Utah under enlightened ownership and even if the building isn't perfect, they are winning again.

Ownership in Buffalo is a joke and Buffalo soon needs new building.

I'd even support them in Hamilton. Never in Atlanta or Houston.

This simply isn't true. Players don't come here because they don't want to live and Buffalo and the team sucks.

Why we have to turn Terry Pegula into some sort of monster is just dumb.

We went from "take the fireplace out of the players lounge they are too pampered" to...the organization treats it's players like shit.
Seriously? You are going to hoist this in part on the condition of the city, the surrounding geographic area and (by implication), the fans?

The team sucks because the hockey department sucks and can't mold together a winner.

They tank, acquire outstanding entry level talent and still can't build that into a winner. Players become disillusioned and decide to leave. It started with ROR. Hell, Dahlin is hurt again and I've seen this movie a couple of times now.

I remember when Buffalo was the team everyone wanted to go to. And the city was aN ABSOLUTE sh1t hole back then.

Remember when the Leafs were a joke of a franchise on the ice?

What happened to change that?

Remember when the Blackhawks were a joke as a franchise (everywhere)?

What happened to change that?

Remember when the Red Wings couldn't do jack sh!t right?

What happened to change that?

Some combination of all 3 was is required to change the Sabres. (We are talking in a 50 year modern timeframe).

Them leaving town is NOT one of those factors.

I mean it is the truth I don't know why you are so offended by that. Buffalo is a small market.. not a lot to do. Great summers and horrible winters.

Adams is a moron but what he said is the truth.. he just shouldn't have said it. This has nothing to do with "blaming" the fans. The blame lands squarely on management even Adams himself stated that winning will overcome the lack of palm trees and too much taxes.

Adams and Pegula should be held to account for their bad decisions and lack of putting a winning team on the ice... not these whiney tantrums about palm trees and blaming the fans... people are getting ridiculous

Imagine being a Sabre 10 games deep into a losing streak, with a playoff spot almost an impossibility, and the owner comes into your room and apparently says "We believe in you, your coaching staff, and management, and we're staying the course. No changes".

Every player must have a threshold beyond which pride and loyalty turns to despair. I'd be thinking "Is he serious? Get me tf out of this loony bin."

First and foremost, players want to win and players want to play for winning organizations. And be part of competent ones. That's the problem. Not how much night life their home city has.

Why would anyone play in Edmonton or SLC or Ottawa or Columbus otherwise?

Players are consumed by the season and the game they are employed in. There's really not a whole lot of time available for partying. Dedication to the game and season pretty much is supposed to be their focus.

Which is exactly what Adams said. Winning will cure a lot of what ails this team.

As far as the players being consumed with season...yup..they are...but they do have wives and girlfriends and kids who are not consumed by season.

Players care about where they play whether you like it or not...
