After a night to think on it, I don't think this shows a serious character flaw on Max. It doesn't make me dislike him at least. If he does this again, he will start to lose the benefit of the doubt with Habs fans.

Still think he should probably be given 3-5 games. Hopefully it's a learning experience.
I'd rather see this than a player elbowing, kneeing, or boarding a player in a dangerous way. This makes opponents think twice with the cheap play in the corners as well. We've heard from other teams in the past that playing Montreal is easier that punching a marshmallow. No one was scared of our team, now Ekblad will be nervous of Domi an so will other players when they saw Lernout go an back down the Panther player acting tough.

I've read in some places that it's a pointless suspension because he won't lose salary and won't miss any regular season games.
I disagree wholeheartedly; we needed some time to experiment with Domi alongside other potential line-mates than Drouin.

I don't agree with the suspension but I'm not surprised either. It really was a stupid thing to do, but I thought it was dealt with very well by the refs.

Oh well, good for the tank I guess?

Blame the refs and the league on that one. It's not deserving of a punch in the face and very little is, we're not cavemens.

Personely i received both punches in the face and slash or crosscheck, i can tell you that some of the crosschecks and slash hurts way more than some of the punches, so maybe both guy where to blame in this case

i like max and i dont think the punch is that big of a deal

but it sure is funny to see galchenyuk scores a deuce, and domi gets kicked out his first game... the visual is just not a good start for bergevin on that front

This is the absolute worst first impression he could have made on me we gave up a very promising C with SKILL for another winger....to play Centre....again

Another bad future trend with Domi being undersized and also a shit disturber is he will likely end up having concussion and injury problems a la Shaw

If this is how he's going play for us he will also make our undersized roster targets for payback stuff

It's a typical, knee-jerk suspension that the NHL hands out whenever an incident "looks bad" or has a bad result. They never punish intent, only the result.

The Bertuzzi incident is a case in point. Had Moore not been injured, Bertuzzi would have been given a few games and the whole thing would have been long since forgotten. But because the outcome was bad, the league threw the book at him. The fact of the matter is that Bertuzzi pretty much said that he was going to do something and his attack was completely premeditated. So even if Moore had escaped unharmed Bertuzzi still should have been given a harsh suspension. But we all know that had he not injured Moore, he'd have received next to nothing because the only thing the NHL ultimately cares about is public perception. Optics. It's never about actually doing something about players who go out intending to injure their opponents. If the intent is there, the punishment should be the same whether the action results in injury or not. But it never happens.

Domi suspended for the rest of the preseason.

LOL He hardly touched him! Max does not have a history of this in any case. Maybe the league should look into the precipitating events and why the refs didn’t call a penalty. I like the kid even more after this.

5 games for that? Parros and the league are idiots. Those were dime a dozen a few years ago. Parros himself made a living by bs like that.

Now, you're supposed to get slashed on the hand, hope your fingers dont break and not defend yourself.

At that point honestly, Domi should of knocked Ekblad out cold. Sorry, but if you want to be cheap with your stick, you deserve a broken nose.

People talk like Ekblad received a Zednik or Patches treatment with their blind side hits . Get real. He was staring right at him but was too much of a female organ to defend his actions.

Its just too bad that Ekblad didnt get worse. I'll tell you one thing....he'll think twice now about slashing.

'bout time a Hab sends a message like that.

And to all of you happy he got suspended...you re the same losers that laughed at Plekanec when he said he plays like a girl.

Well, this is doig the opposite. The way things are SUPPOSED to be.

The suspension is a pain in the ass for Habs management who wanted to use these preseason games to see if he could be a possibility at center. Now they can't even play their starting line-up once before opening night.

Not the best way to make friends.

Couldn't agree more. Wicked right hand from Domi messed up Ekblad's face- little baby will think twice next time the Habs roll into Florida. We are going to suck balls this year, might as well go with some WWF tier Hanson brothers laughs.

Do you seriously think that other players will be scared of Domi after he hits someone who looks away, more likely they will try to provoke him to get him sent off?

Ekblad looks at the ref to his left and not at Domi when he gets hit.

Watched it and although this shit needs to be cut out altogether, I don't think it's nearly as bad as many are letting on. Seemed there was a scrap about to ensue and Domi threw the first punch. I dunno, I guess maybe in real time it would have looked different. The end result is horrible, but I've seen worse.
