I don’t believe they have to do that today. There is a date that you have to be on the AHL roster in order to be eligible to play. I don’t think that dates comes until later in March.

That’s correct. You’ll see plenty of paper transactions tomorrow to make guys eligible. The AHL TDL is usually a week after the NHL TDL but the players on NHL deals must be in the AHL by tomorrow

I'm gonna need the Bears to add at least one more d... especially if Bear gets traded and Ness is out for any substantial amount of time, like into the playoffs. I don't really care to see multiple of Perrott, McDonald, Leivermann, etc getting regular sweaters in the playoffs.

So i guess we’ll see if anyone goes down. I doubt it. Frank is here to stay. And i doubt we waive (for purposes of having on Hershey roster) McIlrath or Alexyev. But perhaps Jake will play

He has certainly earned a look at the AHL level. .927 sv% in 25 games is quite solid. He is playing about as well as Mitchell Gibson (who is three years older), and he is significantly outplaying Seth Eisele (.909 sv%; has been splitting starts with Garin).

To put .927 in perspective, here are some other guys who played in South Carolina (minimum 10 starts):

Stevenson .916 sv% in 36 games
Shepard .917 sv% in 23 games & .922 in 21 games (different seasons)
Thompson .929 sv% in 32 games
Vanecek .917 sv% in 32 games
Grubauer .918 sv% in 43 games

He may not pan out, but I'd like to see what he can do at the AHL level next year. Bjorklund was Wheeler's #11th Caps prospect in 2021 before his very tough 2021-22 WHL season (which, to be fair, was on a dreadful Medicine Hat team...... 11-53-0-4 that year).

Would be curious to see if anyone knows why Garin played only one game all of 22-23. Injury, perhaps?

Didn't get to watch after the first period but the Bears won 4-3. Miro and Bear with goals. Like I said, I didn't watch most of the game and haven't caught the highlights, but Shep had another meh stat line with 21/24 saves. Granted the third Cleveland goal came with one second left in the game.

Shep is fading away. Stevenson seems to be starting to pick it up. He has 2 shutouts in his last 3 starts. It would be a crime for Stevenson to not get more starts going forward, as it wouldn't be bad idea to rest up Shep a bit. You can tell that Shep is either fatigued or lost some of his technique. Shep used to be good stopping everything down low, but he gets beat even low now.

If there one thing negative playing for the Hershey Bears, they go for Calder Cups more than any other AHL team. What bothers me, Shep is a career AHL'er, while Stevenson still has a chance at an NHL path as a backup goalie. You got to let the guy develop, yet Shep has gotten in the way.
