The Kings had 34 shots on goal?!
More like 34 shits in pants.

In all seriousness it wasn’t as bad as I expected considering our entire veteran presence was Clifford, Lewis, Kovalchuk, Martinez & Quick, but this underscores why you can’t just throw a bunch of kids out against an NHL team.

Yep, a lot of the youth looked overmatched today. I think a good chunk of the faces in tonight's lineup are heading to Ontario (and/or waivers).

I'm not expecting this team to make the playoffs all I want is the young players to get a chance and get their feet wet.

Not the best game, was hoping that one of the forwards really grabbed a spot on the team, but they were vastly outexperienced by the Ducks

This was a golden opportunity for guys like JAD, Kupari, Prohorkin to show anything vs an NHL heavy Ducks lineup and all three were totally invisible.
Porkins was not invisible. He was around the puck quite a bit in fact. True, he didn't do anything much good with it but he did show up. I think it's too early to cut him loose. The other two belong in Ontario along with LaDue and Amadio.

I noticed Porkins twice tonight, both times on the same shift, that's it.

Yep, but no shame in that. McLellan basically said coming in that was the point. Let's see how they do without 'help', while being 'the guy,' instead of being 2nd fiddle to Kopitar or whoever.

Good showing, good experience, guys like Kupari will learn lots this year.

Come on. Seriously? lol.

If you're basing this just on tonight, then Porkins is trash too. If you're basing this on more than tonight, then there's no way you can even remotely say that about Amadio.

Kovalchuk is a disaster. Plays the way he always has except he is at least 30% slower. Trading him will be difficult.

Wagner better have a spot. His speed is one of the few elite skills this team has available to it. Grundstrom is a keeper as well

Kupari isn't close and that's perfectly fine and expected. He needs AHL seasoning to hone his North American hockey IQ because most of the shit he tries doesn't fly out here.

Vintage LaPoo. Muscled off the puck, get frazzled, lose his man, minus. He's too soft. Any little spurt where he picks up a couple of points is offset by him being bad at playing defense.

If you can't make this Kings defense, you probably aren't getting claimed. We, and the Kings, shouldn't worry too much about it.

Kempe continues to prove his draft scouting report was correct: questions about offensive ability; could top out as a 3rd line player.

Pretty spot on with how im feeling. Ladue is definitely not someone who should be in the NHL, at least not on this team. Kovalchuk I think could still have some use on the PP when used with guys with vision to get him the puck (lizotte?) but overall, not too useful.

Wagner is awesome, hes fast and he has some balls, too bad his hands arent so great but he did score pretty well last year in limited minutes.

Kupari is not ready at all but like you said, give him some AHL time and lets see how he develops.

Amadio has been in the system for years, Porkins for a few weeks and from a totally different world. Amadio is slow and weak and he was losing 1 puck battle after another. Brief flashes of talent now and then ain't enough. Besides he won't get claimed anyway.

The last few years LaDue seemed like a steal in the 6th round but just can't seem to take the next step to cement a spot in the lineup.

The guy is mobile, quickly moves the puck up the ice, and can get his shot through, but he really needs to shit or get off the pot at this point.

LaDue is making $850k this year. That's a lot in the AHL. The 1-way contracts matter. Teams don't want those guys stealing money in the minors. He and Ryan are likely going to be on the team to open the season.

Agree, yet I appreciate that he tries it, and that it's encouraged at this point.

We all saw what happened when Jordan Weal lost one puck at the blueline vs. Arizona.

Yes, and in one of those years, he was literally arguably our most effective player in his minutes--at worst, one of them.

Respectfully, I don't think we're watching the same player. He'd get claimed in an instant.

Agree though that Porkins needs time to adjust--unfortunately since his bitch ass won't play in the AHL, what you see is what you have to assume you get, and it ain't enough.

Were we watching the same game ?
Apparently not. I am also disappointed in Kempe -- his game hasn't improved at all from what I can see. It's easy to fall in love with prospects and harder to acknowledge when they just aren't that good.

You have a good point. Not liking it though.
