Dallas with a lack of leadership in the locker room, the talent can do alot but I mean as the best players of your team are you going to say this about other players? I'm sure some other players from Dallas know how much class the Sedins have but now they hear this from their best players?

So a joke told in an interview speaks to leadership in the locker room?

What a joke.

Poor taste and clear lack of maturity by Seguin and Benn.

Sedin's proved that they are respected statesmen for the game, and that guys like Benn and Seguin have a lot to learn, if they ever do.

I am not a Canucks fan, but for Benn and Seguin to behave the way that they did, with very little prompting, shows very little regard or respect for their peers, and a real lack of grey matter between their ears. They embarrassed themselves, which is bad, but they also embarrassed their team, which is worse.

I highly doubt their comments were well received by Nill and Stars management. They need to grow up, or shut up.

Ironically, they need to spend more time with guy's like the Sedin's.

I just got warm and fuzzy from reading that. Well said.

Benn: My brother actually got them fist before I did. Then I kind of got hooked on them. I like tattoos. I like being different.

Not sure how tattoos can be classified as being "different" now. Immature comments by Benn and Seguin, they should apologise and that should be the end of it.

I'm appalled at the amount of people who don't think saying this kind of stuff on air on the radio is different from trash talking on the ice.

Whether you think it's a big deal or whether you think it's funny or not is irrelevant.

You are in a public forum, on air, representing your team and your organization and the people who pay you.

On another note, what reason would you have to get baited in to go after the Sedins? There's no rivalry between the Canucks and the Stars, nor between the players.

The DJ's led the conversation and brought the Sedins up, but no excuse for Mutt and Jeff to,play along with it...very immature of the radio guys and the players...

I'm going to attribute this whole thing to young players not being mature enough to draw the distinction between private conversation and a public forum. Dallas needs to get these guys some PR education.

Also, I really hate all this phony outrage. Not just with this specific incident, but in general. "He made a gay joke! He hates gays! Get him!" Please. Who doesn't make an off color joke when in private company. If you say, "I don't!" then you're either a liar or extremely boring. Depending on the company I'm around, I'll joke about anything. Race, sexual preference, disabilities, nationality, you name it (I just know enough not to make those jokes around people who might take offense.) But just because I make a joke about gay black rabbis from Mexico doesn't mean that I think any less of them. I mean, my best friend is a gay black rabbi from Mexico... :sarcasm:

Kid made a mistake by not recognizing his audience. Mistakes happen. Move on.

Between how this incident went over and Sean Avery trying to burn Phaneuf by insulting his own ex (with one of the most awkward deliveries ever) a few years ago I have reached the conclusion that hockey players don't do 'edgy' very well. Hockey players should probably leave the 'edgy' to the pros.

Not that it wasn't entirely predictable but good on H. Sedin for more or less brushing it off and doing his part to try to put any controversy that may have sprung from this to bed.

Sedin has class so he must be afraid of a fight?

Twisted, sick logic there. Predictable when you institutionalize fighting in your league like the NHL does.

The event itself is no earth shattering big deal.

Two best Dallas players, including their captain, made inappropriate comments and sounded like tools. Henrik replied in the adult manner you would expect from him. Jim Lites, a classy man, was not impressed and likely made his captain apologize for embarrassing the franchise. Now time to move on.

I don't know why people try to go after the Sedins with such terrible comments.

Henrik and Daniel are a class act. They anonymously donate millions of dollars to hospitals and charities around Vancouver and no matter how much mud people try to sling at them they always remain calm and respectful.

Seguin has a lot of growing up to do. People talk like Subban has an aggressive personality but at least he's a competitor who just trash talks on the ice...that's much better that people like Seguin/Bolland/Benn etc who go behind other people's back to demean them.

Always heard that Jamie Benn was a toolbag, I guess he's more of a henchmen than a toolbar.

Good on the Sedins for being themselves. Great players, even better people.

I'm not by any means pointing my finger towards the entire country but after the "outrage", it is little easier to understand the famous verdict where a stand-up actually had to pay money for the heckler for trying to stop her ruining the show..

That makes no sense at all.

What is surprising is this thread. Listening to pages and pages of Stars fans attempting to justify the radio show or question the intent of what was said is laughable. Have to chalk it up to blatant homerism or sheer ignorance.

Really solid post.:handclap:

Not surprised Seguin hasn't changed his stripes completely after a year and a half in Dallas. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if what actually happened with Seguin in Boston was actually WORSE than what the media claimed.

Here's Seguin in practice earlier this year:

Big props to Henrik Sedin for his non-response - although I found it a little puzzling that he said something along the lines of "I don't know what he said, but it reflects on him." That said, Henrik Sedin is now my second favorite Henrik, and my favorite Sedin.

Not as solid- but how did you get in to the practice facility and capture that awesome footage?

The Stars practice facility has an open viewing area. Anybody can walk in (with exception to a few closed practices such as playoff time and such) and watch. Nice bleachers there too.

Side note: "temper tantrum" really?

Thats what is awesome about the Sedins. Genuine good guys and great hockey players who dont even care what some younger guys say about them. Seguin and Benn are great players too, obviously not as humble and quiet as the sedins but thats ok. A lot of good players who are still decent people say dumb ****. They are young and will learn. It is what it is.
