Yup. It is a bias that doesn't really stand up - beyond a certain point. I mean, goalie is the most influential single position so you expect the best teams' goalies to be near to being their team's MVPs. But that expectation shouldn't disqualify a goalie who has had a truly exceptional season.

I've even heard some of the talking heads point out that goalies have their own trophy (not recently, can't quote anyone), the Vezina. Don't skaters also have the Ross, the Rocket and the Norris?

ross and rocket aren't voting trophies. it's not the same.

I'm on the fence.
He clearly deserves it, IMO. Not sure the voters will see it though.

If he played for the Leafs he would already have the trophy on the shelf in his man cave. They wouldn't even go through the formality of waiting till the season ended.

I’d rather he win the Conn Smythe Trophy, but do agree the Hart Trophy would be cool.

Just don’t see him getting the Hart for suspicious reasons. It’s almost always about the high scoring forwards.
 
The Jets winning the President's Trophy would seem to make him the prohibitive favourite. Since the pundits all predicted a mediocre season, then pointed to Helle as the only thing special about the team, you'd think they are forced by their own logic to vote for him, after taking an ordinary team to extraordinary heights.

Well I wouldn't hold my breath on their logic saving the day here...

It's weird because before the Dallas game it seemed like most of the pundits and writers were leaning Drai/MacK. But then Drai and MacK got injured, Helle had a big statement shutout vs Dallas and all the sudden TSN, Sportsnet, THN and a few of the odds makers were all saying they are voting Helle for Hart.

The Dallas game coupled with Drai/MacK not playing down the stretch made for a massive narrative shift among the voters that I have noticed. We'll see if Helle plays one more game to close out the season but honestly I think he might have a slight lead now. Provided he doesn't S the B in the final game he should have as good a shot as anyone to win it.

Im guessing most of these players have CTE? Hellybuyck 3rd is pure insanity. Shesterkin ahead of him?!?! Igor couldnt carry Helle's jock.
