I know we already have a Hellebuyck thread, but I think this topic deserves its own thread.

I'll start it off with a link to a Garret Hohl evaluation of the question. I know some of you don't like Garret. Go ahead and argue against him. Argue that Helle should not win the Hart this year.

Yup. It is a bias that doesn't really stand up - beyond a certain point. I mean, goalie is the most influential single position so you expect the best teams' goalies to be near to being their team's MVPs. But that expectation shouldn't disqualify a goalie who has had a truly exceptional season.

I've even heard some of the talking heads point out that goalies have their own trophy (not recently, can't quote anyone), the Vezina. Don't skaters also have the Ross, the Rocket and the Norris?

ross and rocket aren't voting trophies. it's not the same.

If Helly does not win the Hart this year, I doubt any goalie will ever win again. He has earned this award.

We know Button's vote is for Helle.
I actually think Helle has a shot now with both MacKinnon and Draisaitl out or resting.
Kucherov is not liked by the media so who is left ... Makar?
I think that shutout of Vegas and Dallas got him more votes.

He clearly deserves it, IMO. Not sure the voters will see it though.

If he played for the Leafs he would already have the trophy on the shelf in his man cave. They wouldn't even go through the formality of waiting till the season ended.

Hellebuyck with his 46th win on the season. Helle played well, after a shaky start, especially that gaffe, leading to a Chicago goal. Helle sadly will not tie the record, as they will have Comrie start tomorrow. Overall, a phenomenal season by Hellebuyck!
