I’m not saying Ville is same calibre as guys like Makar, Fox or QHughes but he’s basically the same height and weight as those three and they do alright for themselves out there.

Skill and IQ can overcome size. I wouldn’t want to run 6D Ville’s size but he’s small by any stretch (pun?) in today’s NHL.

I mean he’s a friggin monster compared to the Hutson kid Habs fans are all frothing over these days!

I’m all for giving him some leash this season and seeing what he can do. We might need offensive support if Mo or Pionk get injured late in the season.
all of those guys including hutson may be similar in size but that's where the similarity ends. in terms of actually playing and producing heinola does not belong in the same sentance. as those guys.

Yeah…that’s what my first sentence said. Great rehash.

I’m also saying perhaps he needs more than 45 games, half on his weak side paired with an absolute pylon, to let him settle in a bit.

Who’s your pick for PP 1 or 2 time if Mo or Pionk go down?

It's the perfect time. Everyone knows what Stanley is. Samberg will be back soon to hopefully save the second pairing. See what you have in Heinola before the TDL where they will be adding.

I'll be honest. I'm a homer. I want all our guys to outperform. I still believe Chaz can play one day. Bauer will be the captain and vh top 4

You can't compare him to those guys - he not even close to being in their league.
This really isn't about height / weight - it's more about having the grit / strength that playing NHL hockey requires.
That doesn't mean you are a goon - it means you are strong enough to manage the wear and tear of the game.
That's what he is missing - he a super soft player that has a decent level of skill.
He came out I think in last yr's preseason and stated that he needed to be stronger to play in this game and that he was working on it.
Not sure how much stronger he is but he looks better TY than he has in the past -
Is it enough? We'll see -

I like Miller and his shot but I don’t see him as a guy who can set up the PP from the point.
How many games have we lost from mo and pionk they have been blessed with good health. Outside of this new one to berg, only injuries i remember are to Villardi and ehlers.

Will he get 10, before Stan Berg come back from injury?
IMO, I think the guys on the bubble all get platooned - what's more interesting is understanding what the plan is.
Do they want one of these guys to stick or do they want to perpetually drop them in and out of the lineup.
IDK - but we've heard how Arniel wants them all in game shape to fill in for injuries, or just to drop them into games where they best align with the opponent.
That could change if one of them runs away with it - but we haven't see that yet.

But for some reason fleury is on the bubble despite being decent in top 4.

I think Fleury gives you everything you want from a 3rd. He doesn’t have the offense of Heinola or the willingness to fight of Stan.
What he does give you is a guy fast enough to keep up, doesn’t look out of place in top 4 holding up Pionk.
Maybe - but I don't know if speed is all they are looking for in player who will partner with Miller.

They need to determine if Ville can get it done because they likely love his passing / offense
Same goes for Stan - they like his physical game, PK, and that he steps in when things get rough out there.

I like Fleury too - he's OK at most things. But that pairing with Pionk has looked real bad at times so not sure he is as well balanced as you say. He still gets flustered in the dzone and tends to run around (not that they all don't) - I doubt very much that speed is the strength they are looking for on that pairing.
IMO, you need a guy with Miller who can manage the d aspect well - and they are still working to determine who that is.

When you look at the pairing (when Samberg returns), there was an effort to balance the pair - they will do the same on the third.

But if they thought so highly of miller they wouldn’t healthy scratch him. Heinola still doesn’t have that many points.
Every time Stan is physical they call a penalty.
Only perfect players are mo and Helly.

They want Ville and Stan in - those are two of the guys being evaluated (or potentially showcased) - so Miller comes out.
I'd assume Miller is a lock for the right side - but who knows
Stan's been penalty free the last few games - other than fighting. Yes, he gets called a lot but I assume the org is aware that big guys don't get a break from the refs and if they want him to play an aggressive defensive game (and it's obvious they do), he might get called more than a lightweight - it's a trade off I suppose.
Perfect players? Who said anything about perfect? These 3 are interchangeable 6D at this point - far from perfect.

The only point I'm trying to make is that they are not done evaluating - doesn't matter if you or I have already made up our minds.

As Heinola's skating and speed come back, I expect him to be more effective. His IQ is there. He lost years of development with his injuries. His ppg before this year at the NHL level is quite good, in limited games
