50 points in a quarter is just mind-boggling. I watched some of the game - they were literally standing around letting Atlanta do whatever they wanted. I mean do these people even care?

Scoring 133 points in an NBA game and losing - it's incredible. Man I miss the Jordan battles with NY and Detroit when if you could score 100 as a team against those defenses it was an offensive explosion.

It's incredible how far Chicago sports has fallen, the best we've got is the Cubs and they're struggling to just reach mediocrity. And won't spend money despite having it.

Everything else is garbage with nothing to look forward to for years.

I don’t think the cubs are the best at all. Nothing great is going to happen there. There is no plan to try to win a championship. They want to make money. That’s it.

The hawks, I think, are our only hope as Chicago fans until some people pass away. Their ownership at least has the goal of winning a championship and some kind of competence toward hiring people to help them accomplish that goal.

The rest don’t. The bears have the will and the means but not the ability. The Sox should be relegated to minor leagues and the bulls are aimless. The cubs are probably the most insulting one to me. They have everything but the desire to win.

Yeah... no. The Hawks are on a far better trajectory, with far better ownership, that actually care if they win.

Cubs - .512
Bulls - .419
Hawks - .342
Sox - .253
Bears - .250

Cubs - in an awful spot. They only care about being just good enough to sell tickets but not actually being a real contender.

Bulls/Sox - I don't follow either to have a clue what their future looks like. I don't think I even know a single person who watches the NBA anymore.

Hawks - I like the foundation they're building, but they have a looooong way to go.

Bears - I like the foundation and cap space they have to build with, but I think just about every single Bears fan expects them to screw it up about as badly as they possibly can. And they probably will.

For such an awesome city the sports situation sure does suck.

Bulls - worst place to be in all of sports. Not good enough to warrant excitement, but not bad enough to reliably land top draft picks. Oh, and it's a Reinsdorf venture, so nobody worth anything is willing to come to the team voluntarily.

Sox - just had a historically awful year at a time a) when they weren't even trying to tank, and b) aren't far removed from thinking they could contend for the AL Central. Their rebuild failed and they have to start over from scratch but don't even have a foundation worth selling off to help build a new foundation. Oh, and it's a Reinsdorf venture, so nobody worth anything is willing to go to the team voluntarily.

The Cubs are currently the "best" team in Chicago. But that's like being the winner of the "smells like shit the least" contest. In the end, you still just smell like shit. I'd argue the Hawks have a FAR better foundation than the Cubs right now, and are in a much better place to actually play meaningful games in the next few years.

All this "building a foundation"/"meaningful games in the next few years" stuff is exactly my point. Nobody wants to hear that when teams in sports can and do, turn things around very quickly - either by spending money, making smart hires, smart moves and signings - or the right combination of all of that.

None of the teams in Chicago is showing any signs of even wanting to do well. Part of it is teams still draw well/sell out despite poor seasons. The Hawks currently are 7th in the NHL in attendance despite being the worst team in the league - but I personally know season ticket holders that while excited about Bedard, that's wearing off and the frustration is growing over constant losing and lack of effort.

The Bears regressed from 7 wins to 4 and look a million times worse than last year - that's not supposed to happen when you draft a generational talent and add the offensive help they did. Nobody expected a Super Bowl but nobody also thought they'd train wreck like this.

It sucks and it's insulting for one of the great sports towns in America and some of the best fans.

I think Hawks are heading in the right direction although rebuilds aren't easy to do between lottery luck, how good the drafts are during your rebuild and of course your front office scouting, drafting, and developing these prospects properly.

That being said I am so glad I have other hobbies than sports, pretty brutal for the people working all day/week just to watch all their teams suck at the same time.

As bad as season as the Cubs had, they were a decent bullpen away from a wildcard. If Porter Hodge is the real deal, it will make a big difference.
