People love bringing Stanley in to bash him, whether it has anything to do with the op or not. I really didn't care about him either way outside of, you know, cheering for every player on our team, but all the hate around here really has me pulling for him.

Especially in the Heinola thread .............. :sarcasm:

Not trying to bash Stanley , just was giving opinion and i brought him up because that's who Heinola is trying to beat out for a spot. Really I'm one of the last people to just bash a Jet but you guys can think that if you want. :dunno:
I know you are are not trying to bash Stan - based on how you interact on this board. I don't think it is in your character.
But when you bring a player up in a discussion and all that is mentioned are the things you "think" he does poorly, you are basically bashing.
No worries - it doesn't matter - we'll know soon enough.

If Heinola shows capable my guess is the coach will go with the player who's type of game is more suited to what he needs in a given game. If he needs more quickness and puck movement then Ville goes in, if he needs more size and grit then Stanley goes in.
Agreed. I think you see Heinola, get a handful of games to get up to speed, and then the lineup set situationally. Though I could see Miller be given a few nights off and move a LHD over, maybe Heinola?

Totally agree with this post, and the situation and who we're playing, would dictate the types of players I would deploy. We sort of have 2 players that offer somewhat opposite skill sets, and you can use this to your advantage, and insert the best one, that gives you the best chance of winning, versus a particular opponent.

Special teams will have an impact too. Stanley is 3rd among defensemen in GA/60 on PK. Numbers have gone down on PK with Fleury in. Josh doesn't have great numbers either. I still think Stanley is #6 for the greater part of the year, but you can pick and choose matchups that Ville would help the team in. With Stan travelling with the team be interesting to see who gets in against the 3 most physical teams on the road trip,

I kind of feel like the Jets are wanting to play Heinola against Minnesota because a good game from him there probably shows why Chisholm was let go. Kind of a measuring stick game, and Minnesota is not overly big up front, more of a skating team.

Health will play a role as well. Neither of the two have really been able to stay healthy the last number of years.

I said it in the pgt but I'd call Ville up and go:

44 - 4
14 - 2
24/67 - 6

I really don't think anyone on the left side is strong enough to play to 4 with Pionk other than Morrissey
