Post-Game Talk: Heart breaking loss against the Bolts.

you can't rebuild without capable Centers, we have nothing behind Nick and its been this way since 94. Rebuild down the middle, one would think they would know this after 100+ years in the league. Mother of god we needed Monahan for this rebuild, but nope.

Hearthbreaking?
loser mentality , we should accept taking losses I guess

...he was gonna leave to sign in Columbus to play with his best friend anyway...nothing we could have done to stop that...

Which is why we should sell. Misa, Hagens and Desnoyers are all very good center prospect and they should be able to center a 2nd line maybe not next year but probably the year after.

The only place where Caufield is somehow useful is on the PP, but he is too expensive to be just a PP specialist. At this point, he is nothing more than a Mike Hoffman/Alex Debrincat clone.

Caufield is 25th for ES points in the entire league. He's tied for 92nd for PP points in the entire league.

Don't quit your day job :teach2:

We did NOT need Monahan at 5 yr 5 mil. He is a glass body. 2 years worth the risk.

I'm watching the highlights:

The first goal was a terrible pass from Slaf to Caufield's skates, Nick Paul found himself on a one on one against Dobes.

The second, Hutson got caught, Struble did not help, he played that terribly, yet again, Dobes was left alone.

Hutson is a passing wizard, like yesterday with Beck, he sent Anderson on a breakaway.

That 3rd goal is comical, Dobes got tripped by a ghost...

The 4th one, Xhekaj in no man's land, Savard doing the Zamboni's job with his belly...

Anderson is blind, he had Struble free around 14:05 of the 3rd, but he decides to miss the net, yet again...

Vintage Gally with two goals.

Savard and Metheson are great... For the tank.

Well, go tank go !

Yeah, but there is a huge difference between blaming the whole team and blaming someone part of the team...
The whole team must play better defensively and that includes the goalies who are pretty mediocre outside their net to stop a dump in behind the net and get the puck out quickly. We are quite far from Price like a whole league's below. It's a young team so it's expected.

Sell all we can to get a center. Desnoyer or another. We desperatly need a second center to have 2 duos Nick-Cole, Caleb-Yvan. Then we add a winger on each line. Slaf and Dach or Heineman. Start from there and see what happen. Beck on 3rd line, Evans 2 years contract on the 4th line but give him 2x4M = 8m.

Habs and Hughes should now be sellers at the deadline.

Watch Hughes surprise everyone and make a hockey trade that moves Evans +Armia ++ for a top-4 RHD and solves one of our more pressing roster issues. Then, watch him sign an UFA C as a 2nd line C in the offseason.

That would be about as big as the summer that Gainey completely transformed the team, for good or for bad.

Evans will never sign in Montreal for 2X 4M when he can likely get more money and definitely more term elsewhere as an UFA.

I say, trade what you can to get another C early at the draft (Desnoyers is perfect), but also sign a legitimate 2C as an UFA,whether it is Duchene, Bennett, or some other.

When one of Desnoyers or Hage is ready for 2C duties, the veteran will either be gone or can move to third line C, depending on who we sign. One of Desnoyers or Hage can play wing.

Yes, you should accept losses while rebuilding. It's part of the process. This is how we will have a contender eventually, instead of having a mid team carried by a goalie like we had for 15+ years.

And they have drafted centers, those just didn't pan out. There's only one hole at center for now and it's 2C. That might be filled by Hage, a UFA, or even Demidov possibly. Patience is the key word here.

You can’t wait for a 21st overall pick to hopefully fill that void. Sign a FA , or go trade for one, even if it’s overpaying. We can never fill the void of decent centers
