Post-Game Talk: Heart breaking loss against the Bolts.

I've been saying this for a while, the guy KH/JG needs to get rid of is Cole Caufield. The Habs won't be able to win anything in the playoffs with this midget in his top 6. When he doesn't produce, he brings absolutely nothing to the table. Such a unidimensional player, no wonder Suzuki has to constantly overwork his asshh off to help Caufield 5 on 5.

The only place where Caufield is somehow useful is on the PP, but he is too expensive to be just a PP specialist. At this point, he is nothing more than a Mike Hoffman/Alex Debrincat clone and you don't win with these kind of players in the long run.

Trade his asshhh while he still have some values. We need size and grit on the top 6, I'm tired of those midgets getting bullied and being defensive liablities... it's not a winning culture and never was.
I respect the opinion but right now this team has bigger problems than Caufield. I would also trade him if the value was there

Infuriating loss. Tampa coasts on luck. How many times did the Habs just flub open nets and clear chances? We played hard but we simply can't catch a break. I think that really demonstrates how far we still have to go. Losing guhle and heineman f***ed us

honestly, thought there was more energy tonight. If they play like that every night we probably go .500 the rest of the way.

Suzuki always slumps this time of year then comes back rejuvenated after he plays in the all star game. We will see how he comes back after a vacation.
He's been getting and creating scoring chances throughout but he does seem a bit run down. Having been recently identified as a player participating in 47% of our goals it's quite noticeable when he's left off the score sheet.

I agree, but Caufield is something that management will need to take a deep look at into the future.
Can the Habs win with this guy playing on their 2nd line, while being a pp specialist and defensive liability making over 7M/year ?

I don't really see him as a core player and given the chance, the Habs should use him to acquire another key piece for their future.

Caufield is nowhere near a PP player or specialist by any means. He is 2nd in the NHL for 5 on 5 goals right now, by the way.

There were years where the losses were so demoralizing because there was no hope, no talent on the team. This era is so different. We actually have talent. We actually have some players with size. But it's probably harder to be patient because we can see the potential. The team could be in way worse shape. The sky isn't falling, it's just sad to see the team hit it's limit given the circumstances

Yeah he knows where it's at. We can always make a pitch for him July 1st but I doubt we'd want to match what he's likely to pull in as an UFA.
I wouldn’t pay him the 3.75-4M$ long term he is probably asking, but losing him will hurt this team. It will be the same kind of impact albeit to a lesser extend that losing Danault, and will probably burden Suzuki with more defensive assignments. If KH doesn’t find a remplacement that at center that at least even out the lose of both Evans and Dvorak and we downgrade at this position, I see us finishing bottom 10 again.

He has such a wicked one timer that does not get used nearly enough.
Vasi is still looking for that puck he cranked off the cross bar.
Every time he's not playing at his best, people say he's not a 1C. He needs to convert on his chances more, but he's clearly snakebitten, the chances are still there. Did superstar 1C Point do anything outside of his wide-open empty net PPG? He's had pretty much the same number of pointless games last year.

What is this nonsense? The guy is our best player this year and he's far from unidimensional. Are peoples even watching game? Unlike Suzuki, who at time, look like he doesn't give a shit and play uninspired, Caufield have been dangerous pretty much in every game this year

I'm nowhere near as spooked about defensive assignments as many are. I've always said he's a role player
playing a role that many others can assume. If we can't mitigate the role Jake Evans plays inexpensively with a player or even players we have the wrong people at the helm.
