Glen Sather is at his home Palm Springs,California home(Bob McKenzie reported this on NHL Live/NHL Network). So any interviews with take place there. The Rangers are having their team meetings next week and those are usually held at Sather's home. Slats is in California for at least the next 2 weeks.

It is not going to happen. Just, please, drop it. What if he gets injured? How will he go to the media? How can you respect someone as a coach when they are your peer? It's just not a good idea for a multitude of reasons.

I think deep down every Rangers fan would hope and pray Messier does a great job. Giving the 1001 reason why it probably won't work or why he isn't the best guy for the job doesn't mean you are rooting for Messier to fail.

Although if it's between Messier and Callahan as Player-Coach I'll take Messier...

Messier as an assistant to either AV or Rupp makes sense. His legacy is on the line here, and it could be forever tarnished if it's a disaster.

This team is not in the position to take a on a coach without any experience, regardless of his legendary status.

AV or any coach would not take the job if Messier is forced on them as an Asst Coach...why would anyone put themselves in that position?

I'd rather the head coach Sather decides on to bring in his own people. Someone that knows their system and are already on the same page. Nothing worse than hiring a new coach and saddling them with someone they might not mesh with.

I by no mean want Messier as the coach. He's too much an unknown when it comes to coaching. BUT, being done with the team, the second he gets hired, is a little much. I'd wait and see. Part of the unknown, is surprise. Maybe he'd be good at his job. I don't know. I'd wait and see.

But give me Boucher or Tippett.

Of all the stupid decisions Sather has made, it'd be the biggest. At least Lowe and Trottier had previous coaching experience in some capacity.

More than likely, the head coach will pick his staff.

But... you never know.

I say that because I would hope that a stipulation of hiring an inexperienced coach, I dunno... someone really inexperienced... would be that the assistant coach(es) would have some exeperince that could help said, new coach along the way.
