Mike Van Ryn
Why?
The Blues fans don't even want him.
We needed Larry Robinson to figure sheet out in 2019.
I'm missing something.
Not even our best Assistant Coach....
I understand that thinking, but he has been with one of the best HC's which seems like forever. If my memory served me correctly, I thought RT blew everyone away with his power point presentation? All we can do is assume who at this point, and to be quite honest I don't care. None really excite me.It’s the Tocchet situation all over again. Even Nelson is involved again.
We hired Tocchet because he was coming off a Cup and supposedly a Sullivan clone. The same can be said for Lambert and Trotz. Looking at Lamberts resume alone there is nothing that makes him stand out.
Being around one of the best coaches in the NHL by itself is a big positive. All these candidates have warts bigger than Manhattan. I think the hardest thing about this whole process for BA is trying to find the best of the worst. Were any of these guys mentioned to be in the running for a HC's job with another team this year? Last year?Just thinking a little more on the Lambert thing…. Isn’t it pretty underwhelming that his most redeeming quality is he’s spent a lot of time hanging around Barry Trotz? What are his strengths? What have been his positive contributions to those teams? Why has he gone a decade without being a head coach and why hasn’t anyone else hired him?
So we get a McLellan. What's wrong with that? I personally do not like McLellan though. It reminds me of when everyone wanted Babcock’s assistants. Todd McLellan worked out but Bill Peters and Paul MacLean didn’t.
One other thing with Lambert. He handles the Islanders forwards….10 of which are over 30. His coaching experience is largely with veteran teams, exact opposite of what the Coyotes are. It’s the Tocchet situation all over again. Even Nelson is involved again.

Stop with this age thing and fit. Good coaches of all ages adapt to the teams strengths. One other thing with Lambert. He handles the Islanders forwards….10 of which are over 30. His coaching experience is largely with veteran teams, exact opposite of what the Coyotes are.
Guys like Nelson and Van Ryn have greater experience with younger players and seemingly a much better fit.
Head up coaching right here. Lol.
Canada's assistant coach caught the puck as it was flying over the glass to save a penalty - Article - BARDOWN
Really? Tippett? Babcock?Stop with this age thing and fit. Good coaches of all ages adapt to the teams strengths.
The longer we wait and the more coaches we talk to the better I feel. We have no idea how they interviewed, what kinds of demands they want or the Coyotes want. It's not as cut and dry as their coaching record etc.Nelson has his 2nd interview today - the only 2nd round interview we know of - and is probably objectively the best candidate if you weigh everything out.
I don't see the point in waiting around for Lambert.
No surprise there.LeBrun says Seattle talked to Rocky Thompson but he is no longer in the running.
Who said that?Except Tocchet appears to be the favourite there.
You could go to Seattle, throw a ball in the air, and the odds are that the person who catches it will be just as good of a coach as Tocchet.
