Post-Game Talk: HC 5 - Jets 2

  • Work is still on-going to rebuild the site styling and features. Please report any issues you may experience so we can look into it. Click Here for Updates
-4th line is incapable of scoring
-perfetti 1 goal in past 24 games, 2 assists in past 12 both in a blow out win vs vancouver
-names our "2c" has 5 points in his past 19 games

were just not going to win with this type of production, it's going to be very predictable what's going to happen, top line will have the scoring dry up a bit, we will continue to get nothing from everybody else, leading to the top line starting to cheat for offense leading to bad habits and lack of confidence
Keep trotting out the same bottom 9, Ehlers and Lowry aside and expect different results! What a joke!

And the advantage of having the AHL team in Winnipeg was what again…..Chevy?

Time for some changes or does Chevy waste another season of Helly, Schief and Connor and Morrissey for a four and out PO!

I'm not going to go into a deep lamentation of why the Jets lost last night.

Utah hasn't been an easy win for the Jets this year. And Utah is trending in the right direction. I see their young forwards as being very Connor, Ehlers, Laine-like in their impact, and it's a matter of time before the Utah Hockey Club becomes a legitimate contender in the Central with the progression they are getting from young players. Consider that they played this game without their two best d-men.

Bad ice maybe, 1st time in the arena for the Jets. Decent excuses.

Bigger questions I think loom with what kind of team is this without Lowry up the middle?

Also do the Jets have the top 4 defense to win in the playoffs?

Some ugly moments that may want to get erased from the memory.

Good PK tonight, Stan included. Almost popped a 4th line goal off. And Nino and Ehlers looking good together gives a semblance of a 2nd line with or without Lowry.

I liked the pregame show on CJOB that tied Utah into the careers of Arniel, Chevy and Chynoweth, a good endorsement of Salt Lake City as a decent hockey market. Cheap beers make for louder fans.

Better play better again Colorado. Or it will be 3 in a row.

The team this year is strange. Either Hot or Cold. First third of our season to date, we were 15-1 wins and losses. The second two thirds of the season to date we are a .500 team wins and losses. Reminds me of our 2018-19 season with the quick playoff exit. Hope something changes and we can be better than 0.500 again this year. The common issues - defense, second line, second line c remain an issue. New issue, our backup goaltender can't buy a win mostly because we can't score in front of him. Still enjoying the year, but the high hopes for the playoffs from the record start have faded back to reality for me. I am on the fence as to whether we should acquire at the deadline. Last year, the team was worse after Chevy's acquisitions that were supposed to improve the team. Plus we lost future assets. Decision time is getting near.

I gave up after the first period. Late starts do me no favors so I seldom watch.

Seems like the January doldrums. Jets have been doing this since the first season. I remember a Tampa game early on, maybe first or second year, I ponied up for tickets on the glass. Saturday night in January, HNIC. They played like they didn't care. I expect this hits other teams as well.

Might be time to start seeing Perfetti for what his limitations are and acknowledge our second line outside of Ehlers isn't really capable of scoring much. That's somewhat problematic when our 'third' line isn't either, though at least that's not their role.

Don’t know what’s worse.
Watching this game or going on a bad date
It’s feels the same.
Start off with exciting anticipation
Then I start fumbling my lines
Gets late and I’m desperate to score before the night ends
Leave empty handed

I think that’s the first game I’ve turned off before over this year. After 3-0 I didn’t see hope and bed was calling.

Weird that you'd lump our last two thirds together after separating ot the first third

By my count, we're 8-4-3 in our last 15 (9-3-3 before last night)

I guess you could call that ".500", but point percentage wise that's top 10 in the league (7th place right now has .641)

People will always pick sample sizes to confirm their bias i guess

Has any team in the league (outside of maybe Washington) played consistently .700 points percentage hockey over the season?

The Jets had a fuel issue. As in the bastard gained some early ignition.
