Post-Game Talk: HC 5 - Jets 2

-4th line is incapable of scoring
-perfetti 1 goal in past 24 games, 2 assists in past 12 both in a blow out win vs vancouver
-names our "2c" has 5 points in his past 19 games

were just not going to win with this type of production, it's going to be very predictable what's going to happen, top line will have the scoring dry up a bit, we will continue to get nothing from everybody else, leading to the top line starting to cheat for offense leading to bad habits and lack of confidence
Perfetti does nothing out there. He just glides around waiving his stick at the air, they pass the puck by him and he goes for a change. Time for him to hit the press box and bring back Chibrikov so they will know if they need to waste assets on a 2nd line winger again.

Rough game for most of the D, a lot of self inflicted wounds.

Have to get past the last 2 losses and start to put some more wins together again.

I mean...... :naughty: This might have to happen or at the very least we call up Chiby and sit Gus to try and create more offense.

The jets are really looking out for me. First game I couldn’t watch in quite a while and they get out all the bad play.

Love it when a team is looking out for me and me personally 😊

Why can't the Jets draw penalties, last night their were 2 clear infraction one on Nik the other on Fefe with the refs looking right at it and no call. Sure they have one of the best pp's in the league but that shouldn't be held against them. Something stinks when a team at the top of the league in taking penalties doesn't get called for even 1 at home.
I think word may be out with refs that Ehlers goes down a little too easily every once in a while

I don't think there's anything a ref hates more than being made to look bad by a player like that drawing a penalty that wasn't. For that reason, they'll error on the side of not calling things

One of the lightest PGT's I have seen in a long time, even though the team is having a great year it seems to me a lot of posters have lost interest in posting here.

I think a whole lot of posters are in a similar frame of mind to myself - we've been through several seasons with this group (mostly) and it's just pointless to get real invested. Winning is fun and good regular seasons are fun and all that but if it's another first round exit coming then meh...

I don't know what's actually going to happen in the playoffs obviously (and I hope it goes differently this time), but we're basically in already and it's pretty apparent that it doesn't really matter if we have a 99 point season or a 112 point season wrt the post season so for me and I think a lot of others it's just sort of a holding pattern till the regular season ends.

Plus, negative comments are verboten here. It's only positive cheerleading allowed. lol...

I watched until it was 0-4 and then tuned out and it wasn't even that late for this retiree. There were a lot of individual errors especially by the D-corps (Samberg...Yikes!) but, as someone has already mentioned, the team seemed disinterested. (They looked slow relative to the Utes.) I, also, think the Jets play too much of a perimeter game that will most likely not be successful come playoffs. For once, I'd like to see Ehlers, heck even Barron when thry're driving up the wing with the puck to "take it to the net" instead of going for the power skate around it. Sure the opposition D-man is going to make it difficult but a little havoc will be caused and the puck will be in front of the net, hopefully, where a heck of a lot of goals are scored from.

It's because the sad sacks have less to post about. If we lose to the Avs don't worry a 3 game losing streak will help :P

I think a bunch of us even keeled posters just avoid the PGTs after losses now

Realistically, aside from saying "they played like shit, on to the next one"... what is there to say?

We got the obligatory "this team sucks based on the last (insert sample size of games that confirms your bias here)" post out of the way early

I'm just thankful that fan-favorites like Samberg were the ones with the most visible gaffes. Had it been the whipping boy, we'd be on page 8 by now

Weird that you'd lump our last two thirds together after separating ot the first third

By my count, we're 8-4-3 in our last 15 (9-3-3 before last night)

I guess you could call that ".500", but point percentage wise that's top 10 in the league (7th place right now has .641)

People will always pick sample sizes to confirm their bias i guess

Has any team in the league (outside of maybe Washington) played consistently .700 points percentage hockey over the season?
Thank you for your interest in my post. In my experience, when someone calls statistical facts 'bias', it is clear that they are biased.

We have played 48 games. We had an NHL record start. That 'NHL record' sets itself apart by definition, not by bias. Frankly it would be weird not to look at that - NHL record start, vs what happens next. And I am saying in my post that is what I am doing.

You can analyze whatever you want in terms of blocks of games. Go to town. In responding to me you chose 15 games. Was there something unique about 15 games ago? Or is it because if you had 'randomly' chosen to go back 10 games, you would be talking about 4 wins and 6 losses? The fact that you see what I say as 'bias' just displays how biased your post is.

I am going back to enjoying the Jets.

But, hear me out, it’s really all Stan’s fault as the other D see there is no accountability and are just bringing it to everyone’s attention. 🥴

I haven't seen any positive posts about last night and that's deserving but i don't see why that means we have no chance come playoffs . Jets outplayed Calgary the game before but got goalied.

The wild thing is, practically every team has ebbs and flows, but some people LOVE to focus on the ebbs and define the team by that.

The team that flows the most has the best record in the NHL. The Jets have been flowing very well. Yes, we had a record start, but we've also had some really nice stretches of games and wins outside of that start. The longer we stay at or near first in the NHL, the less impact that start has on the overall record.

No matter how you slice it, this team will only be defined by how it does in the playoffs this year. This is what I am anxiously anticipating. Until then, I'll ride the waves and hope the team keeps working on things that will serve them well when the games REALLY matter.

Sure, and we've won lots of game over the past few seasons against lots of teams...and are 2-16 in our last 18 post-season games.

Even when things are going great it's still possible to look at underlying numbers and stats and so forth and note "hey maybe there's some issues here" and have a discussion but if anyone does that lately it's not long before finger pointing and yelling "NERDS!!!" begins (actually, that often happens even before anyone mentions anything analytically-related). I think it's had an effect over the past year or so as far as forum posting goes.

I would like Coghlan playing, i have liked his game.
The problem is all of those bottom 5 guys are just that. They all have strengths and weaknesses. The only thing I can say about it is we kind of know what guys like Stanley, Miller and Fleury are. They have enough NHL reps that it's unlikely (not impossible) they will break through and become something better.

Heinola and to a lesser extent Coghlan are more intriguing to me. Ville in my mind has shown real progress in his past few games - we're seeing some more confidence and offensive flair from him - some of the promise that made him a first round draft pick. I'd love to see him get another true run of games to see if he can build on it.

Coghlan, though older has only played 112 NHL games. He has some decent size, and has also in my mind shown pretty well in his games so far. I don't think we lose much (if anything) by playing those two together on the bottom pair. Lets see if they can grow together. If not, we still have the others to fall back on.

Me personally i have no problem with that and believe me i won't be happy if we go out with a whimper in the 1st round again. I guess I'm just saying the playoffs are still over 2 months away, I'm going to wait until then to worry about that.

While they have done a better job this year of giving 4th line more minutes per game, its still too low, especially lately. Every year this happens. The F playing over 20 min a night start to hit a wall, and they go on a tailspin for awhile. Helly same thing. He has once again played too many games.

D, same top 4 playing too much. Samberg just an off game, whatever. Morrissey too, his back check on goal that Pionk flubbed was total remote disconnect.
