Apparently we just had an earthquake. I definitely felt it but thought it was a construction truck breaking up the ground on a street behind me. Alas!

I live in Newton Corner, across the street from the Four Points hotel above the Turnpike, and I regularly feel vibrations from the passing commuter trains. I felt and heard something different this morning, but I thought it was something in my building or some heavy truck/equipment going by, but I realized it was the earthquake only after learning about the earthquake. It's happened before. I remember my place in Waltham moving strangely early one Saturday morning, then learning about a quake centered near Plattsburgh, NY.

was on the lake for 3 hours yesterday. only issue was the wind. ice was perfect and about 10 inches thick.
skating was fun. Wind would coast you across the whole lake just by gliding.

That's awesome. We had a crowd on the backyard rink all weekend. And Thursday night a bunch of us are headed to Winnepasaukee for the pond hockey tournament. Looks like the weather is gonna be ideal.

Great to hear eastern MA is having some ice skating cold weather. We had a cold snap when I lived in Marblehead and we skated all over town. Made me sad it didnt happen all winter.

Mortgage went up 150 a month. Got a nice aggressive call from the bank today saying I shorted them a few weeks ago for January, and that I would have to log in immediately and make a one time payment. No letters. No calls 3 weeks ago when they were paid. Nah. Just today.

I've been fascinated by the planes and helicopters battling the wildfires. This video popped up on YouTube and just confirms I would never have the nerves to do what these people do.

Imagine flying a C-130, surrounded by who knows how many other aircraft, through smoke and turbulence and finding the exact spot that you need to drop the water, all while hearing the plane yell "altitude altitude altitude" at you as the mountains are right there next to you.

I don't know what these pilots make but they need to make more.

Side note, the C-130 is one of my favorite planes. Not much it can't handle.

Now I just transfer my escrow into a money market account and pay property taxes/insurance out of that. In VT you only pay property taxes once a year so you can site on the $$ and make 5%.

Felt the quake this morning, rumbled for a good 7 or 8 seconds. Similar to the "Bliss" earthquake near Buzzards Bay about 4 years ago. By the time you realize something isn't right it's over.

My mortgage has been sold twice since we bought the house in July. Last week I got a letter from the county because the supplemental property wasn't paid because it got sent around the time the mortgage got bought out by some company with a stupid name, so it must've fallen through the cracks. So that was annoying.

Was talking to pops last night and he was excited to tell me all about his new cell phone. I had to go on Amazon and buy him a new case, so i did. Then he told me about how the techs in store that helped him transfer all of his data to the new phone told him his contacts would all save. All of his pictures and apps and contacts, literally everything he said was still there…everything other than MY phone number

We laughed about it, and then today it hit me super hard and I’ve been struggling much of the day. I am my dad’s person. I love that, and I knew it anyway, but to hear him sort of come to that conclusion himself has stuck with me. The pressure has been building on me day by day since he was injured nearly 30 years ago. I am juuuust barely holding myself together these days, and I’m not sure what more I have left in the tank

It’s a very bittersweet feeling that I wasn’t ready for today.
