Am I the only one that has been somewhat unimpressed with Bedard's shot at the NHL level?
I thought he was supposed to have an elite shot and I haven't seen him beat a lot of goalies with a snipe.

He's played one game this year and was on and island by himself last year. There's no doubt at all his shot is elite amongst the elite. The problem is getting him the puck in positions to utilize it fully.

I feel like he needs a less whippy stick

But yea he hasn’t been ripping them past goalies clean without a screen like Matthews does. Lots of easy glove saves for goalies in the past couple games

Matthews doesn't beat goalies unscreened off the carry all that often either. Nobody does

When Bedard isn't the sole focal point and has others creating chances for him his shot will shine more
Turns out, NHL goalies are really good. It's almost like it is really hard to score when they are set, only have to worry about the shooter, and the defense keeps the shooter outside of the house...

This graphic struck me during the game:

Bertuzzi: 9th season.
Teravainen: 12th.
Maroon: 14th.
Smith: 14th.
Hall: 15th.
Brodie: 15th.
Martinez: 16th.
Foligno: 18th.

You just don't have a winning combination when 8 players can total 113 seasons. Stop with the "veteran leadership" crap. One or two, fine. But this is ridiculous.
Hawks weren't going to have a winning combination this year regardless. The Hawks had a bunch of AHL talents in their 1st or 2nd NHL season last year and were absolutely terrible as well. Hawks didn't have guys ready for the roster spots, so they got a bunch of temps to fill roles short term. Here is hoping they play OK and can be moved for value at the TDL.

Having a team that sucks is one thing, we knew that was going to happen.

But when the coach lets his team think that type of culture is okay, that’s some bullshit. Get someone with some damn pride who will follow him despite their deficiencies.
The culture starts with the GM and ownership signing off on losing a lot. They should be the ones to take down the country club sign.

Get Kaiser in the line up and shoot Brodie to the moon.
Why did I think the Brodie contract was only 2.5M per when it is actually 3.75M and for two years which is inexcusable.

It's not like we had to offer him an extra year to acquire his much needed... anything.

I'm mostly a fan of what KD has done but the Brodie deal makes no sense on any level and his small sample size here so far he has looked dreadful. Not to mention he turns 35 later this year so it ain't likely that he's going to improve.

Go reference the Brodie signing thread.

Not many of us thought it was wise.

I think Phillips going down is a good sign for Allan. They’re not going to keep him up just to keep him in the press box. The book is in on Brodie, and it’s not good.

If they do sit Allan for games, that’s another strike against coaching. Hopefully not the case.

Gonna be a rough 2 years with Brodie. May need to LTIR him next season if more young'uns are ready.
"get ready to learn robidas island"

We should bring in a vet player or legend to coach like the habs did MSL during the transition years. Even we did something to that effect in savard. Then find the new Q. I feel like the shitshow is affecting bedard and his development.

LuRich is waiting for Allan to make some tiny error before benching him like he did with Reichel when he got a shot blocked.

Lmao calling for Hossa to coach this team is quite funny. I don’t know what that does beside make a few fans short term happy
Yeah I love the guy like everyone else and would like to see him brought into the fold in some capacity, but head coach when he has no experience makes no sense.

He'd have to start coaching in some other league like Seabrook and Hjalmarsson have begun doing.

Can't just drop someone with no coaching experience into a head coach position
His dad was a very well respected coach if I remember right, part of why his game was so polished from entering the league onward

I don’t support him as a prospective coach. Even Toews or seabrook would be a better fit
