News Article: Hawks to create in-stadium hall of fame.

I'll just say this: if Toews, Kane, Keith and Seabrook don't end up with banners in the rafters, it will be an absolute travesty.

I expect some will disagree.

There's probably like single digit people in the world that would disagree with any of the first three names. Two of them do happen to post here though lol.

Seabrook should have his number retired if Hossa does. Then you have a Sharp/Hjalmarsson/Crawford tier of guys who don't quite get in.

All those guys are hall of famers. Seabrook is not.

He played over 1k games which qualifies him. Hossa definitely had the better career but a good chunk of it was on other teams. The Hawks released their standards going forward for jersey retirement when they announced Chelios' jersey retirement.

I know this gives Tab Bamford an erection, but I sincerely hope that nobody votes in this thing. 100 years is 100 years or whatever but I hate it when teams who are not winning add focus on the past to take attention away from the fact that they're not winning.

If you're a HoFer and spent a majority of your time as a Hawk while winning mulitple Cups then I'm fine with the jersey retirement. Even after we retire #2, 19, and 88 then we'll still have 90 or so jersey numbers for people to choose from. I'm not worried about it.

HOPEFULLY we can add Bedard's #98 to that list in 20 years

So don't honor the players who came before who did win because the current players are not winning in the rebuild fast enough for you?

You should only get your number retired if you were a core member of a Stanley Cup winner AND a hall of famer.

Toews, Kane, Keith, Hossa.

That's it.

I'm happy to see Seabrook, Sharp, Hammer, and Crow get recognition however else the Blackhawks would like. Ring of honor, statues, name sections of the arena after them, whatever.

Bingo. If we used the qualifications some people want, there would be no numbers left to wear.

Seabrook more than Hossa simply because he played whole career with us. I know 7 is already retired.

I have zero desire to retire the number of a guy who won't even sniff the HoF, honestly. Number retirements should be reserved for pivotal pieces to the dynasty, who were also among the very best in the sport through much of their career. Throw Seabs' name into the Ring of Fame or some such shit, but he shouldn't have his name plastered up on the retired #7 with Chelios.

Loved Magnuson. Met him at our end of season awards ceremony at least once back in the very early 70’s. Terrible unfortunate end to his life. Tough kid, good defenseman, but definitely not a retire-your-jersey star. Hawks put him up there with Pilote.

Seabrook way more than Maggie deserves that second line on the banner.
