I think this team will have the D figured out moving forward. We really need to find some impact forwards next draft. You still have to put pucks in the net.

You've got not just next summer but the one after as well to add 2 more high-end caliber forwards with what will almost certainly be 2 more lottery picks, plus having additional 1st and 2nds and all that adds up. We already have Bedard + Nazar, Moore, Boisvert, and many others cooking. So after 2 more years of sucking we'll have a stacked young forward core. Plus Vlasic/KK/Lev/Allan/EDM/Rinzel/Kaiser on D. Chances are enough of those will "hit" and we'll have ourselves an exciting young team. Ready to go after big name FAs. (FWIW i FULLY EXPECT to have a new head coach by that time as well)

Aside from the 1st period of game 1, this team has been surprisingly watchable so far. I was prepared for the worst after that abysmal preseason.

Only 3 goals so far, but I do think the offense has been a little unlucky, so hopefully it'll balance out. And was that really Soderblom tonight?

Joey Anderson played nearly 16 minutes last night... that should just never happen.

Especially when that's only 30 or so seconds less than Bertuzzi and TT, 9 seconds less than Kurashev, 1:02 MORE than Dickinson.

But this was the 1st game of a back to back. Can't have gassed forwards trying to keep up with a fresh (and pissed off) McDavid tonight.

Soderblom was excellent. Rebound control was not an issue as it was last year. Lost net few times but again nothing like last year. Much improved.

I put this loss in the coach quite a bit. Why was Johnson out there with a minute to go ffs?! He is press box fodder not the guy you have on the ice to seal the game. He is an ahl player at best and Luke plays him in that situation?!?!

He missed his check on the goal but has more than earned trust as a defensive forward

Scoring only one goal was a much bigger contributor to losing that game than a single missed check at the end. And Kurashev's blown coverage was much worse than Anderson's if you're looking for a scapegoat

You don't want any of those three in the Joey Anderson role. He's out there to match up with the other team's top forwards which he has done pretty well as a Blackhawk. You rail against a guy for what you perceive as lacking intensity and you want Reichel out there protecting a 1-0 lead? Sure thing dude. Give the spectacles a wipe and watch again
