Rumor: Hawks expected to make big splash (Robertson, Knies, etc)

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.

Trade, offer sheet or not go after Robertson

Pretty sure this isn't the real Bill Wirtz....

I mean if I were to go buy a Honda accord for 100k that doesn’t mean the value of the accord is 100k. Even if that accord got me to work at my 400k job, and the value was “worth it” to me, that doesn’t mean the car is worth 100k
It's worth every penny if you win a Cup. You cannot apply market theory to NHL trades where there's only one winner and 31 losers.

We paid a premium for Antoine Vermette. He underperformed for what the Hawks gave up. Kim Johnsson on ice was absolute trash. If his mentorship ends in a cup ring you just smile say thank you and pay the 100k for an 03 Civic.

Hockey is so much more than economics.

Yeah wasn't really so much trying to argue that. Bad analogy I guess. Just saying that whatever you pay for something doesn't automatically make it its value. If he's a #1 the trade is a win. No arguements.

I agree with you on most things just don't engage in market economics with Jaeger it's a pointless battle.

Hockey isn't spreadsheets. We paid way too much for Byram unless Byram becomes a top ten defenseman.

Because you can get 100k out of a Honda Civic. Say you do the bare minimum with oil changes, heat and AC always work, nothing but routine maintenance and you ride that car and it runs like a top for twenty years.

Likely? Hell no. Possible? In the best case scenario.

Davidson passing up on Robertson if the return is reasonable might piss off people more than 4 for Byram...Lets hope that doesn't happen...free JRob
RIght now seems like Utah, Sharks, Hawks, Devils (doubtful on that spend) and Red Wings have cap space and assets to move. All teams here have flaws. All of your best teams simply dont have $14 mil plus to pay him or the assets to acquire him.

Sabres dont have the room hence looking towards Knies. All of this could be moot and just forces Stars to pay him $14mil...where we then can offee sheet Bourque.

IDK seems too far gone for Robo staying in Dallas...Once they start accepting multiple trades the relationship is likely over

Just saying this could be the biggest circle jerk ever. If he only wants to play for a handful of teams that either cant afford him or cant win the trade, not sure what is left but to work a deal with the Stars.

Utah seems like they can really throw something together here...same as the Sharks as JRob is a Cali kid...but did just go house shopping in Chicago lol

Man isn’t Robertson too old?

I could see Nazar being as impactful as him in 3-4 years, and we’re probably still years away from contending even with Robertson

Timing just doesn’t feel quite right to me
I’ll eat my hat if Nazar ever puts up 100 points. When Robertson was 22, he put up 79 points in 74 games. I like Nazar, I don’t want him gone for nothing. But the offensive potential is just is not there for him.

How can the perception be that we are still “a few years from contending” if we added Robertson. The work is done. You’re a playoff team. Then the number of cups depends on if Rinzel or Levshunov pop, as it always has.

You can’t miss the playoffs with two 100 point forwards.

Its hard to predict but Davidson will only get so many chances to find Bedard a star linemate...Demidov was the first chance...He's got Robertson...if not Robo then who?
