really REALLY liked the look of staal-deangelo the last 2 games. not that my trust in him matters in any way, but DQ is facing a real test in my p.o.v when pionk is healthy again. if he reunites staal-pionk, i start to doubt if hes the right coach.

that may seem rash, but that pairing has just proven to be absolutely horrendous, and it's not even a debate. large enough sample size that that pairing should never touch the ice intact again.

meanwhile, why split up a good thing. don't fix it if it aint broken. keep staal-deangelo together. even though we've played 2 teams that just aren't good, they should get a chance against a better team since they've gelled.

also, we're going to see if pionk is to DQ what staal-holden was to AV in the 2017 playoffs. we've won 2 straight, pnce again against sh***y teams, but the lineup should stay the same until we lose; as it has for most of the season (minus one occurence with buch i think)

not to cross my own words of hating recency bias, but no decisions should be made over 2 games. that being said, staal-deangelo has worked the last 2 games, so give it a chance to work in a higher pressure situation against better teams, then make the decision after another 2-3 games of that

ADA creates space for himself and also gives Staal a safety most times by being in position. Staal isn't put in precarious situations. Not sure if opponents respect ADA's passing ability but seems opponents are on top of Pionk right away.

Coming into tonight his PDO was like 103.5, so he has actually been a somewhat lucky player this far. It all evens out.
You gotta be joking. 5v5? Besides, that goal would have counted whether Zucc was there or not. Also, ADA is one of the best in the league at getting his shot on net (11th among d-men with 400+ minutes this year, 1st among d-men with 800+ minutes the past two years), so a higher than average PDO doesn’t surprise me either way.

Pionk doesn't have the ability to make passes under pressure like ADA does.

DeAngelo should be a staple, not an extra.

I like Quinn but Buch scores two last game, this game he barely gets 10 mins, a full 5 mins less than the next forward

Don’t get it :dunno:

Missed the first two periods but did Chytil basically skate right by Jokiharju (another terrific rookie)
