Chicago only 1 behind in scoring chances 19-18
..actualky gotc1 more high danger scoring chance than the Avs (7-6) ...but the pk failed them against that wicked Avs PPcontrol and finishing..
I find those numbers very deceiving. Hawks did block a lot of shots from dangerous areas and I'm guessing they aren't considered scoring chances on the stats sheet. Avs also sat back in the 3rd period giving Hawks a bit of momentum on offense. All-in-all could be worse.

on twitter hockey stats cards
the best 5 hawks Roos, Kane, Domi, AA, regula
worst 5 tinordi, murph, entwhiste, kharia, Raddysh

not sure how to read there graph
And in reality: IMO, Toews, Entwistle and Mrazek had decent games and the effort was there from most of the team. A terrible turnover by Khaira should have found him on the bench ....but Avs were so much better in every aspect, plus Hawks took too many penalties against a great PP.

Perfect tank game. Toews Domi Kane get on the scoresheet. Hawks lose clean 5-2 no points but still fairly entertaining watching the opposing teams best players.

These two goofs CH10 and Pez ruin the entire message board experience. Its incredible.

Lets do the same thing tonight.

You must have some seriously thin skin.

Everyone on these boards for any amount of time gives each other shit constantly. I dish it out. I also take it when it's sent my way. Then you move on. I mean... what are we 12 years old?

The shit talking and jabs are part of the "experience". Chirping here is no different than it is on the ice. Kind of makes sense when most here played the game for many years.

There was one defensive play Roos made that stood out to me. He stripped . . . MacK, I think...? In the first period. Not that one play makes an entire game. But I was unimpressed with him in preseason, so that was kinda neat to see.

He's not awful at anything but he's not good at anything either. I'd say he's aggressively mediocre but that's making him sound more assertive than he is.

Terrible takes ruin the message board experience for me, too. So I guess we're even.

Missed all but first few minutes of game. How did they look?
They played fine for the most part. Had a long dry spell in the 2nd with regards to shots on goal. PK also had a number of struggles, giving up 4 goals.

Biggest thing is there was a clear difference between talent levels between each team.

If you want takes on individual players, Toews looked good, despite being non-existent in the pre-season. Kurashev, the birthday boy, looked like he took another step forward, but we'll see what he looks like when he isn't turning 23. Kane was quiet last night, but that's what happens when you only have 1 star forward; the other team can sorta shut them down each and every shift.

Yeah baby - let's see more of that over the next 81 games!!!!

I'm hoping Kurashev is the Hawks leading scorer in the 2022/23 season (among the forwards) - it would mean he made a big step forward in his development - AND - all the other forwards we hope get traded actually got traded.

If you are a masochist you can watch the replay of the game or the condensed version here:

Fixed. :)

Eh. A 5-2 loss to the defending Cup champs, in their building, on their opening night and banner raising ceremony... is not really that bad. Not nearly close to masochism. I actually enjoyed the game, for the most part.

Well ... OK - I was being a bit flippant.

On the other hand, (re)watching the lumbering behemoth d-corps the Hawks put on the ice last night against the Denver Quicksilvers hints at a bit of a masochistic bent.

Hawks have one defenseman on the roster who wouldn't be a bottom pairing or #7 on a playoff team... They just can't f***ing skate.

Indeed, the d is very slow. Some of them like Regula looked slower than I even remembered.
