Confirmed with Link: Hawks aquire Bowen Byram and Jordan Greenway for 4th overall, 45th overall, and Crevier

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.
If so, we traded a 4th overall pick for a proven 4th overall pick who can help now. Lots of these picks don't pan out and many turn into absolute studs. Either way its likely the top 4 D are:

Byram-Rinzel
Vlasic-Crevier/Lev
Ya, that’s just the fact of the matter. I think it was too much to trade, I think he probably could’ve landed someone better, but this defense is better now. Maybe one day they can turn into the Predators with a slightly better offense.

Byram is just about to enter his prime

Chicago got a 1D and y'all are complaining that they won't be drafting a 2C or 2/3D instead
He just actually needs to reach that level, then nobody will be upset with this trade (well, I’m sure not nobody).

Anything short of true 1D starting next year and this will be a bad trade.

The thing I don't get is.. Byram better be on PP1 now and obviously be your PK1 guy. He's our #1 defenseman now longterm. Levshunov to me, which the Blackhawks drafted him for... now won't be longterm. Do they trade him now?
Need a Seabrook for our Keith

If you think this is a good move in a vacuum, okay, that's fine. Byram is entering what will hopefully be his prime. I'd rather make the trade for a top 5 draft pick AFTER knowing where Lardis, Frondell, Kantserov, etc, are at next year.

But if you analyze the Blackhawks asset management in terms of draft capitol, all the D they've drafted since and now they're going after a guy that was there a decade ago by paying the same price?

When you zoom out, it's a terrible look.
