Have McDrai surpassed Peak Crolkin?

I prefer McDraivid personally :naughty: That being said I wouldn’t put them in the same discussion until they win a cup or at least show playoff dominance. McDavid hasn’t been super impressive in the playoffs(admittedly limited sample).

I can't wait until McDrai win a Cup so that annoying narrative can finally end

They're only 23 and 24, geez

Peak Sid had 37 in 22 before going down to injury, and peak Malkin at the end of same season had 36 in 22

Now Drai has 41 in 21 and McDavid has 37 in 21

Nostalgia on HF heavily will favor peak Sid/Geno in a poll, but what is the actual story? Have McDrai passed them?
This is the worst title to a thread.

I hope that daver gets to meet his hockey hero Sidney Crosby one day. So many posts sticking up for him, that he deserves an autographed jersey or stick.

Five years later and it seems like a good time to revisit this Illpucks classic.

Have McDrai surpassed peak Crolkin?

Yes they have, 6 Art Rosses to 4,

4 Harts to 3.

playoff performers:
1. McDavid
2. Draisaitl
3. Crosby
4. Malkin

It’s hard to deny it at this point. If Malkin and Crosby were more healthy at their peaks then it’s a good discussion.

It was 2009 that cemented peak Crosby and Malkin as elite of the elite. Winning it all with Kunitz, Guerin, Talbot and Fedotenko as your wingers is a staggering accomplishment.

McDavid and Draisaitl are in a similar spot this year. Finish the job and it’s undeniable. Don’t and it’s a debate.

Crosby and Malkin didn't have a teammate within 100% of their point totals let alone two like Bouchard and RNH.

McDrai have scored 22% of the Oilers goals, Crosby and Malkin scored 39% of the Pens goals. Primary assists also favours Crosby and Malkin.

McDrai have shared 16 points (out of 60 total), Crosby and Malkin shared 12 (out of 67 total).

You cannot find a Cup winner in NHL history that was more reliant on two players to produce offense, who played on separate lines to boot (at ES).

Malkin gets dinged the most for injuries but his peak level of play is above Draisaitl's.

I agree.

Pittsburgh never had a Bouchard on D nor RNH as a winger. Gonchar wasn't in his prime anymore.

Malkin & Crosby were also on separate lines with lackluster wingers.

Looking back, it's amazing they took down the Detroit juggernaut with those wingers. Florida is good. Very good. But they definitely aren't as good as those Wings teams.

Lol nah. But I’m sure this board will pretend they have. Sid and Geno doing it in the dead puck era will always be more impressive especially given their ages at the time.
