Worst pairings this year

I like it when you guys don't like the pairings. Usually they work well in that case.

I'm really curious to know who will play the point on the second wave of the PP. Emelin finally gets his chance? Or Brière maybe? I think Gorges played the point a few times too, well tried to anyway.

I don't get how you can have both Bouillon and Murray in the line-up two games in a row without injuries. I mean, I get that they wanted to sit Emelin for a game since he struggled but to sit Diaz in favour of one of those guys? Makes no sense at all.

I guess I'm kinda used to weird coaching decisions by now anyway.

Bouillon's been playing well lately actually.

Ottawa got a big, heavy team. They need the big, gritty guys in the line up. Even if Diaz is taller than Bouillon, he is certainly not as rugged.

Scratching Diaz in favour of 3 D who have been worse than him this season really is a new of level ridiculous. Even for one game. For every 60mins/EV played Diaz is 2nd best among the D at keeping the puck out. The 3 worst are Murray/Bouillon/Emelin and worse by an awful lot.

The argument that they need bigger bodies in the lineup kind of loses merit when that type of play goes against the Habs' strengths and also doesn't explain why they would scratch White. Bravo coaches.

Diaz scratched for 3 defenseman who have no right playing over him? Nice.

Also.. Briere on the fourth line. Nice. Cant move down that Prust offence from line #3!

I really don't understand why Bouillon NEVER plays his off side but Emelin ALWAYS has to play his off side. Is it so hard to try Emelin - Subban?

Most Russian defensemen know how to play on right side even if they are lefties. It is also easier for a left shooting D to play on the right side than the reverse.

Anyway. Bouillon will be gone next year.

Yeah, seriously.

Why did they sign him in the first place if he didn't have a place on the team and they couldn't be bothered to try and find him one :help:

If they wanted a winger, why get Briere? Why not that accomplished former superstar (one of the best right wingers to have played the game) and who actually wanted to play here. It makes no sense, I don't even blame Briere, he hasn't even been given a chance, he's been in the doghouse since game 4 or 5 and has played center what, 2 games?

So ... We have only one true right handed dman in this lineup... Great. That's pushing the boundaries of ridicule, but the team is winning so I suppose a coach can do what he fancies.

Edit: Also unfortunate to see Gros Poilu injured! :biglaugh:

"Gros Viking" is actually the real meaning of the words Douglas Murray when spoken in his native tongue. Nice research there...

Diaz is a healthy scratch? Haha, wow.

He's a defenseman that does little things right, that usually go unnoticed. That's a shame, I thought he's been the Habs 4th best defenseman all season long, despite the constant hate he seems to get around here.

While I wouldn't mind seeing a Emelin Subban pairing, the reason why Emelin is the one playing his offside is because he is the best at doing it, playing your offside just means you are on your back hand more, and passing lanes are a little different in outlet passes. I think everyone would agree that out of the 3 lefties can play RD, Gorges, and Bouillon also have played RD, Emelin is the best one with the puck.

Emelin poor play lately has nothing to do with playing his offside, he is just struggling, he'll bounce back.

Agree that a lot of Russians like to play their offside.

But Bouillon and Emelin are both lefties, and I disagree that it's easier for a lefty to play their offside than the reverse, it's pretty much the same thing, it's just that they are fewer to righthanded shots compared to Left handed, it's very rare to see a team have more right handed shots then left handed shots, so we don't see many dmen play their offside.
