I really don't understand why Bouillon NEVER plays his off side but Emelin ALWAYS has to play his off side. Is it so hard to try Emelin - Subban?
While I wouldn't mind seeing a Emelin Subban pairing, the reason why Emelin is the one playing his offside is because he is the best at doing it, playing your offside just means you are on your back hand more, and passing lanes are a little different in outlet passes. I think everyone would agree that out of the 3 lefties can play RD, Gorges, and Bouillon also have played RD, Emelin is the best one with the puck.
Emelin poor play lately has nothing to do with playing his offside, he is just struggling, he'll bounce back.
Most Russian defensemen know how to play on right side even if they are lefties. It is also easier for a left shooting D to play on the right side than the reverse.
Anyway. Bouillon will be gone next year.
Agree that a lot of Russians like to play their offside.
But Bouillon and Emelin are both lefties, and I disagree that it's easier for a lefty to play their offside than the reverse, it's pretty much the same thing, it's just that they are fewer to righthanded shots compared to Left handed, it's very rare to see a team have more right handed shots then left handed shots, so we don't see many dmen play their offside.
